Be part of the SECURA Modernization Scrum Team, where our focus is on building out the future of SECURA's technology stacks. The Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of software and applications for Agent, Client, and Associate facing technologies. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The ideal candidate should have a passion for making incremental progress to improve and update the technology, software, and applications at SECURA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions within our IT applications

  • Analyze, design, program, test, and implement systems to fulfill business needs or problems, utilizing all phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC)

  • Develop complex project initiatives involving Microsoft .NET and/or JavaScript (REACT/Vue) frameworks/languages

  • Perform assigned project tasks in an agile environment, working full-stack while maintain a productive and positive atmosphere

  • Understanding of .Net Technologies

  • Understanding of Java Technologies

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced developers

  • Develop technical processes and standards where none exist

  • Stay current with P&C insurance knowledge and industry technology and utilize that knowledge with existing productivity tools, standards, and procedures to contribute to the cost-effective operation of the department and company

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5 years of programming experience in object-oriented language, preferably .NET or Java

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or associates degree with equivalent experience

  • Intermediate knowledge of database structure, design, and access methods

  • Understanding of messaging and APIs, including XML, JSON, SOAP, and REST

  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices

  • Demonstrates an eagerness to learn

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Good organization/prioritization skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, yet maintain quality work

  • Experience with an ESB, preferably Mulesoft

  • Experience with SQL Server and DB2 databases

  • Experience writing performant SQL logic, including queries, functions, and stored procedures

  • Experience with GitHub and CI/CD Pipelines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with .Net and other Object Orientated languages

  • Experience working with various Azure Technologies like Serverless Functions, Compute, Container Registries, Web Apps

  • Experience working with Containerized applications and technologies, preferably Nomad, Kubernetes, or Open Shift

  • Experience building highly performant and reusable APIs based on OAS standards.

  • A strong eagerness to learn new technologies, standards, practices, and keeping up with current trends

  • Experience working in a Linux environment

  • Experience with Agile processes

  • Experience in insurance industry
