Software Engineer, Middleware

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and build solutions the enable the integration of various systems and applications.

• Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality middleware solutions.

• Apply existing standards for programming, naming, security & performance and provide proper documentation.

• Stay up to date with the latest developments in middleware development and apply them to projects as appropriate.

• Implement and test program modules in line with functional requirements and developmental standards.

• Assist peers with program analysis and design.

• Participate in peer reviews and collaborate with developers.

• Standardize data exchange between diverse web systems as appropriate.

• Communicate with subject matter experts across disciplines, users and management throughout the software test and development lifecycle.

• Communicate technical concepts to all audience types, including non-technical.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field

• 3+ years' experience in middleware development or a combined equivalent of education and experience

• Strong programming skills, including development experience with any MVC framework

• Experience with SQL databases

• Experience with Gitlab, Github, or Bitbucket

• Experience in writing network services in Rust, Go, and/orTypseScript/NodeJS

• Experience with UI development using Qt and/or C++ is a plus

• Knowledge of the Agile methodology and Jira is desired

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task on multiple projects

• Ability to thrive in a fast environment and produce timely results

• Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
