This position will support the Air Force's Space Superiority Service Core mission requirements and Space Enterprise Vision growth areas by providing concept design, development, integration, test and evaluation of new space technologies, innovative, engineering prototypes, and new employment concepts.
Purpose of the contract is to provide the required research, engineering, and technical management for performing space technology analysis, development, integration, experimentation, demonstration, and evaluation in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate's mission.
Experience with the following but not limited to:
Spacecraft Flight Software development and Object Oriented software development
Working in an Agile development environment using Distributed Version Control System (Git, Mercurial, etc.) and tools such as JIRA Issue & Project Management Tracker
Determines research approach given customer needs and requirements; researches, investigates and gathers system, sub-system, historical, and technical information and performance data under limited supervision in order to prepare reports, briefings, and presentations.
Examines and evaluates system, historical, and technical information to formulate present and potential mission requirements.
Identifies performance and operational issues and recommends modifications of system designs through written reports, briefings, or analyses in light of mission requirements and competing systems.
Develops effectiveness measures including systems need, environment, constraints, and operations concepts.
Draws conclusions and verifies computational and quantitative analysis.
Compiles summaries and reports for customer representatives and answers technical questions regarding project scheduling and work requirements.
Prepares charts and graphs as supporting data; edits and rewrites reports and narrative for technical accuracy; and interacts with customer representatives concerning the status of assigned tasks.
Recommends personnel resources and labor requirements for proper project performance.
Uses computer modeling to perform mathematical computations and failure analysis.
Technical advisor, task/group technical manager, and/or in an independent research, design, analysis, technical review or study role.
DoD SECRET or equivalent security clearance at a minimum.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technicaldegrees (i.e., B.S. or higher degree in engineering, technology, mathematics, physics, or chemistry)
Demonstrated experience (11-15 years' minimum) participating in research activities with a detailed focus on analysis and drawing conclusions.
Possess strong problem solving, analytical and debugging skills.
