Software Engineer General

Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in full life cycle application development of long term proprietary software in an N-tiered, heterogeneous environment

  • Incorporate complex application feature requests through solid design architecture, coding methodologies and best practices

Software Engineer Specific

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, document and maintain proprietary business applications currently based on and built upon Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, ASP and ASP.NET/C# technologies

  • Aid in enhancing, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting business applications and technologies through effective problem solving, organization and communication skills

  • Ensure code is scalable and optimized

  • Perform structured systems testing, both unit and end-to-end

  • Transform business processes and needs into technological solutions

  • Assist in planning of future system needs

Software Engineer Requirements:

  • Strong problem solving skills, focus and customer service attitude

  • Motivated self-starter who is able to work both independently and in team environments with limited supervision

  • Trustworthy since privy to sensitive information

  • 5+ years of application development using ASP.NET, C#, jQuery, .NET Framework 3.5 or greater, LINQ and MS SQL Server

Experience Helpful But Not Required for Software Engineer:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field (experience considered in lieu of a degree)

  • Microsoft certifications or internet related technologies

RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist with the design and development of high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance. * Code, test, debug, document and deliver modified and new programs to meet business and compliance requirements * Collaborate with architects, database engineers, and other software developers in conceptualizing, initiating and developing new software programs and applications * Provide technical advice and guidelines for each of the core architecture domains (e.g. application, integration, data, infrastructure, delivery) * Work with assigned business groups to assist in defining application enhancements and requirements * Assist in translating business requirements into project or design plans * Assist with or create integration solutions that can successfully integrate across multiple systems within the MISO environment and meet requirements * Maintain integrity of program logic and coding, and establish required checks and balances for operational controls. * Monitor production programs for expected performance and respond to errors and emergency problems * Use coding methods for specific programming language to enhance or initiate efficient program execution and performance, and to reach optimum hardware utilization * Determine, develop and maintain shared software libraries, user manuals and guidelines, and design artifacts as determined for the project or software implementation * Assist with managing a smooth transition from development to operations, adhere to committed release schedules and ensure a smooth rollout, deployment and transfer to operations and support groups * Apply software development security principles * Ability to work a 24 x7 on-call rotation schedule * Establish and manage required checks and balances for operational controls QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (or Six + years of relevant work experience) * Four+ years' software development experience with Java, C#, .Net.
