Summary -

The Software Engineer will work as a part of a larger team to design and develop custom Java software solutions that meet the needs of the business and those of our patrons. This role will also participate as a member of a scrum team and will therefore be required to participate in mutually deliverable goals and will have to coordinate efforts that maximize the contributions of the group.

Responsibilities -

Write and support Java applications that furthers the objectives of the organization
Provides documented solutions and manuals for developed solutions
Develop reusable, efficient code that lends itself to continual improvement and delivery
Collaborate with peers and team members to design and achieve an optimal design solution
Document and troubleshoot bugs as is required to maintain a successful application platform; 24x7 operation
Investigate new technologies, techniques, and industry developments.
Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures
Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle

Requirements -

Bachelor of Science in Information Science/Systems, or equivalent experience and industry certifications
5+ years of demonstrated career progression
Strong experience in development against relational database preferably using MySQL
Experience developing consumer facing applications that can scale
Expert in technologies: Java, Java Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Data (JPA), Spring MVC, MySQL, Git Repository
Recent experience in using Spring framework.
Authorized to work in the US on full-time basis

Not Required but Highly Desired -

Experience developing applications in AWS, including AWS Aurora
Recent experience serving as an Agile Scrum team member

VIEW JOBS What you will do Seeking a development engineer with technical abilities in the area of Automation Systems and protocol integration with 2+ years if experience. How you will do it * Responsible for the investigation, development and implementation of non-standard hardware configuration, software solutions, protocol integration and database integration projects while exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. * Provide pre-sales technical support of department solutions and capabilities. * Able to effectively team with integration department as well as internal and external customers. * Investigation of effective and competitive solutions along with proposal development outlining chosen solutions, responsibilities, and costs involved. * Manages and schedules all aspects of assigned workload. Prioritizes work to meet the goals of the customer along with department goals. Provides cost and timeframe estimates for evaluation. * Collaborates with the department to maintain a high level of engineering standards ensuring maximum reuse of designs and programs. * Works with field installation teams to insure timely delivery of developed solutions in order to maximize successful execution. * Schedule and perform project implementations of developed solutions. Available for travel as needed (Approximately 25%). * Development of accurate and concise documentation with the objective to have complete information on file and in the customers' hands that fully explains the solution, how it works, how it's used and allows for reconstruction of the developed solution in the event of a system failure. * Perform other related duties and projects as assigned and other duties listed in quarterly and annual goal setting What we look for Required: * BS/MS Comp Science or Engineering degree (equivalent work experience considered) * Work experience: 2+ years of Application Engineering, Computer Networking, Project Management, including development, testing, deployment, fault diagnostics and maintenance of applications. Preferred: * Possesses strong written and oral communication skills. * Prior experience with Building Automation Systems as well as communications protocols such as Modbus, OPC, SNMP and BACnet is helpful.
