A Day in the Life

Key Projects, Deliverables & Primary

  • Code primarily in Javascript working on a web application built on Node.js and a variety of open-source tools.

  • Work with React, Redux, Less, and other UI technologies to craft great looking and intuitive user experience.

  • Work with the Koa application framework to contribute to the back-end of our application.

  • Take responsibility for quality by writing testable code and contributing knowledge back to the group via code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Key Knowledge, Skills, or Qualities:

  • Computer Science major

  • Knowledge building web applications that are dynamic and data driven.

  • Experience building with Javascript and HTML is required to use our tools.

  • Must be someone who is eager and interested to learn. Must take feedback well and be a team player.

  • Experience in any of the following technologies a plus: React, Koa/Express, Node.js, Webpack, RESTful APIs

The Junior Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, configuration, and implementation of software solutions, and for making enhancements to existing systems or new product offerings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Design and implement custom software development and system enhancement efforts and ensure that corporate quality standards are met * Ensure software development is done in a manner that assures long term reliability and maintenance * Perform software development to written technical specifications and coding guidelines * Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents * Create, document, and implement unit test plans, scripts, and test harnesses * Create and maintain technical documentation * Investigate, analyze, and document reported defects * Perform maintenance programming and correction of identified defects * Initial duties may include reviewing code, writing documentation, and following test procedures EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent discipline, or at least 1+ years' professional experience in software development QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: * Adaptable to new languages, methodologies, and platforms to meet the needs of the project * Strong technical skills including an understanding of software development principles * Ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment and learn new concepts and software * Experience in .NET (latest version), Object-Oriented Design, SQL Server (latest version), Transact-SQL, and service based design principles We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
