Summary

At Sorenson Communications we are passionate about delivering the world's most innovative and high quality communication services and products for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities, and we are looking for a Software Engineer in Test II that can match that passion. This person will work alongside equally committed members of a brilliant and friendly team to develop and test high quality Server and Videophone products that help our customers communicate using American Sign Language. Under the direction of a QA Manager, the Software Engineer II in Test will improve the quality of our products by reviewing test plans, writing and executing Automated test cases, documenting defects as they are found and repaired, and reporting daily on the progress they have made to make our products even better

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Test all aspects of Sorenson Communications Server software products.

  • Work as part of a product development team.

  • Plan testing efforts and create test timelines and schedules.

  • Design and implement test automation scripts/programs.

  • Define test cases and prepare test plans.

  • Mentor test technicians on the team and assign them duties as needed.

  • Monitor, measure, and improve software development and test processes.

  • Diagnose product problems and assist Technical Support as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of Python, C#, or Perl

  • Knowledge of HTML, XML, GIT, SQL and Linux a plus

  • Able to manage small projects assigned to them and have the ability to delegate as necessary.

  • Strong written communication skills are required.

  • Able to work and communicate well with others.

  • Able to produce and exercise test procedures and recognize errors.

  • Strong ownership and organizational skills.

  • Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to work independently as required.

Experience/Education/Certifications

  • 5+ years experience with professional software testing and QA practices.

  • Experience with creating and executing Automated test plans and test case repositories

  • A BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL and automation methodologies.

  • Experience testing client/server based software and distributed systems.

  • Physical Demands

  • Able to sit/ stand for a long period of time in an office environment

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components

  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

  • Work environment -- office cubicles.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Regular and predictable attendance required.

  • Positive attitude, team player, good interpersonal communication skills and able to work across company departments.

Additional Essential Functions * Identify and implement the best programmatic solutions for testing applications on a distributed system * Utilize object-oriented principles to ensure automation framework is easily reusable and extendable * Collaborate with other SDETS to define and implement procedures for automated functional, load, performance, and stress tests * Collect and analyze test metrics, summarize test data, and make recommendations based upon findings * Evaluate automated tests and tools to ensure deficiencies can be tracked and addressed * Submit, validate, manage, and close defects using defect tracking application * Development and implementation of automated testing solutions in DevOps CICD pipelines across multiple enterprise projects Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements * 5+ years Automated QA Testing experience preferred; 4+ years of Java or C# experience and working in an Agile/Scrum development environment; 2+ years' experience working with Configuration Management processes and using support tools required * Expert unit, integration, system, and functional automated testing skills. * Demonstrated experience implementing automated tests within a CICD environment * Experience with automated performance / load testing a bonus * B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience We've been around a while.
