As a Software Engineer, you will work hands-on with scientists and engineers in one of the most advanced image quality labs built. You will also research, learn, build, and deploy camera systems that will excite users across the world!

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, or Go.

  • Experience in computer vision/machine learning, image processing, or computer graphics.

  • Experience in computational photography algorithm or ISP (3A and image restoration/enhancement algorithms) development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • Experience with camera automatic control algorithm development implementation (i.e. auto white balance, auto focus, auto exposure, auto flicker detection/correction, auto scene detection).

  • Experience in GPU, Halide, or other functional languages.

  • Interest in consumer cameras and photography.

  • Design, develop, implement and optimize algorithms for Google products.

  • Develop new algorithms to improve the image/video quality (SNR, color reproduction, stabilization, facial enhancements) or enable new photography features.

  • Develop auto white balance, auto exposure, auto focus, auto flicker detection/correction, auto scene detection algorithms for Google products.

  • Work cross-functionally with hardware teams to support algorithm implementation and optimization.

  • Integrate imaging simulation controls, image analysis and data visualization.

The Imaging Hardware team inside the TechEng Imaging and Vision group is responsible for developing imaging hardware for all Google's consumer products. As an Imaging System Engineer with strong technical, management, and leadership skills, you will work with cross-functional teams including imaging hardware, imaging software team, imaging algorithm team, ISP team to define the imaging architecture of future imaging products. You will also lead camera technology innovations that enable new features and imaging experience enhancement. Minimum qualifications: * MS degree in Electrical, Physics, Optical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. * 5 years of experience in imaging system design taking into considerations of camera hardware, ISP, calibration, and imaging algorithms. * Experience in at least one imaging hardware technology areas: image sensor, optics, AF and OIS system. Preferred qualifications: * Experience in end to end imaging system performance analysis including imaging hardware, software, ISP, and imaging algorithms. * Experience in multi-camera system design, imaging algorithms, and calibration methodology development. * Expertise in image sensor performance and feature evaluation and spec definition. * Excellent project management and leadership skills. * Architect the next generation imaging systems including camera hardware, ISP, imaging algorithms. * Be responsible for joint design and optimization of the imaging system to enhance the system performance and user experience. * Develop imaging technology roadmap for core hardware component, ISP, and new imaging features and experience.
