The Software Engineering Center is seeking an enthusiastic and highly capable software engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing complex requirements, develop large scale software (board support package, libraries and applications), performing unit level and integration testing using state of the art tools for embedded applications. Understand complex software architecture in order to analyze and fix defects reported during software development phases as well as at customer site. Ability to understand and employ software development process during each phase of the software development cycle. Position requires US Citizenship as candidate will be required to have a US Security Clearance day one of employment*

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 2+ years relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines

  • Experience in software development using C, C++, C#, Assembly, MATLAB

  • Experience in embedded software development including debugging and analysis tools (e.g., JTAG, GDB, etc.)

  • Familiar with real-time operating systems, e.g., VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity, or Unix/Linux

  • Experience in network programming and developing software test tools

  • Familiar with object-oriented software development methodologies

  • Familiar with full software life cycle

  • Familiar with modeling languages, e.g. UML

  • Experience with developing real-time multi-threaded applications

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance updated within the last 5 years or Active DoD Top Secret updated within the last 5 years.

  • Ability to obtain special access to customer programs.

  • US Citizenship and ability to access to US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Some background or course work in cyber security or cryptography or information assurance

  • Familiar with secure coding standards

  • Good understanding of different microprocessor architectures (e.g. PPC, x86, etc.)

  • Understanding of agile software methodologies is a plus

  • Experience in customer interface and presentation skills

  • Good communication (oral and written) skills

  • SAP/SAR clearances

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or other technical degree. Master's degree preferred.

Desired Education: Master's degree preferred.

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Tasks will include independently identify high-risk areas associated with development and production of space systems. Research shall establish benefits, impacts, and risks associated with technical decisions in order to reduce, mitigate, and avoid negative impacts to the Mission Area programs as well as the associated users and stakeholders with a focus on process and integration improvement. This position is located at Los Angeles AFB, CA. Key aspects of this position will include the following: * Technical Planning * Development and Planning Analysis * Technical Development * System Implementation * Technical Assessment * Technical Research and Analysis * Training, Operations, Product and Logistics Assessment * Data Management Analysis Job Specific Responsibilities: * Analyze and provide recommendations on RDT&E and Production Corps software programs to perform technical planning for the Production Corps, associated SMC Corps, and Mission Areas * Analyze current and future software requirements, threats, constraints, and trends * Research and provide assessments and recommendations on the effects of the latest guidance applications, streamlining, and standardization of systems to include assessing technical performance, cost, schedule, risk, and contractual issues and considerations. * Research and assess technical developments for RDT&E and Production Corps software programs providing recommendations to integrate systems at the enterprise level and across the Production Corps, associated SMC Corps, and Mission Areas. * Research, analyze, and document risks and issues to recommend improvements for software programs including system designs, standards, specifications, networks, solutions, components, applications, systems, tools, configurations, processes, and technologies. * Perform software engineering and technical analyses for system implementation for the Production Corps including integration across the SMC Corps and Mission Areas. * Research, analyze, and conduct software technical assessments of multiple programs for successful deployment and integration throughout the respective programs, associated SMC Corps, and Mission Areas. * Research, analyze, and conduct software technical assessments, analyses, studies, reports, reviews, estimates, surveys, and investigations to document program performance. * Research, analyze, and provide recommendations to deconflict and field numerous concurrent projects with new capabilities delivered by the Production Corps with minimal impacts to warfighters, users, and operators. * Research, analyze, conduct analysis of alternatives with recommended solutions, and develop code for an Integrated Data Environment (IDE) application that can track, visualize, and analyze programmatic information with the ability to manage mission capability as an enterprise as SMC re-architects into SMC 2.0 on an agile development basis * May lead and direct the work of others.
