  • Write high quality, well-tested and scalable code
  • Evaluate the short- and long-term implications of every implementation decision

WHERE THIS ROLE MAY LEAD YOU

  • Participating in design of features and architecting components
  • Ownership of components of NextCapital's codebase
  • Leading a team for a project or milestone
  • Helping other developers as a subject matter expert

Requirements

WHO WERE LOOKING FOR

  • You have 2+ years experience building software or web applications with object oriented or functional programming languages. than any particular language. We do prefer experience with ruby/rails, javascript, or java. However, we care more about clean, well designed and scalable code.
  • You love tackling really tough problems, and value the correct solution over a sloppy one
  • You have a passion for software development, with side projects to prove it
  • You understand test-driven-development, and youre a capable debugger
  • Youre comfortable reading & writing code, and can describe what each part of the code is doing
  • Youre passionate about our mission to democratize financial advice and help everyone retire successfully

Our technology product teams are building software that connect our customers to their dinner plans. Some of our product teams are focused on the customer journey, some are focused on enabling our internal innovation process, while others are focused on helping us effectively ship our meals to our customers. You would be building new features to enhance our customer experience on our CX team. To accomplish this, we believe in building well rounded, diverse teams. Writing code and handling tickets: * Utilize Ruby on Rails framework, React/React Native, and of course vanilla Javascript and CSS. Hosting on Heroku, postgres database * Communicating about the trade-offs of various technical approaches and solutions * Backend development, design and implementation; database (relational, NoSQL, caching), messaging and big data development, implementation and optimization * Ship reliable, scalable, efficient code Paired programming and collaborating with others: * Provide insight to junior engineers to guide their programming * Influence the road map and product development of Home Chef tools * Completes pull request reviews and providing feedback to team * Participates in sprints, IPMs, Retros, and other meetings to help with product roadmap planning * Interviewing potential software engineers Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and/or other characteristics needed for this role.
