Overview

As a Software Engineer you will be an integral part of a team working to strategically apply blockchain technologies to new and innovative business areas, resulting in high-throughput transaction systems at global scale. If you want to work on extremely challenging technology problems of global scale, then this is the role for you. As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Software component implementation supporting the deployment of a global blockchain system supporting a high volume of transactions.

  • Prototyping and proof-of-concept experiments to prove out design decisions.

  • Software testing at all levels (unit, module, component, system).

  • Data analysis and visualization to test hypotheses related to system behavior.

  • Working collaboratively with a cross-discipline team in a fast-paced, agile environment.

About the Team Akamai Labs is expanding its team with a mission to strategically apply blockchain technology to business requirements for a highly available, high throughput, highly secure transaction system.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or

  • Relevant experience and a Master's degree

Required Skills

  • 1+ years experience with 1 or more of the following languagesC/C++, Python, Golang.
  • 1+ years experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • 1+ years experience working on Linux/Unix platforms.
  • 1+ years experience implementing and deploying a distributed system.

Desired Skills

  • Experience designing and building scalable servers or distributed systems.

  • Experience in banking and financial transactions.

  • Site reliability engineering and/or related work including service performance.

  • Experience modifying and extending the Bitcoin core or related cryptocurrency codebase.

  • Experience applying information security & cryptography best practices.

  • Proven track record of delivering large amounts of high quality, complex code.

  • Highly responsible, self-disciplined, self-managed, self-motivated, able to work with little or no supervision.

  • Extensive experience working on multiple projects at a time in a fast paced, results oriented environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to fill a position in Amgen's newly created Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) team. Our small product team is a high-energy, tight-knit group who builds our DevSecOps framework used globally by Amgen development teams. This position focuses on working directly on inventing, developing and extending the internally developed DevSecOps framework. Our mission is to meet Amgen's software development needs as well as our DataOps needs for AI and ML data scientists. Our frameworks are built using opensource and AWS services. Our frameworks run custom code development, DataOps, as well as test and deploy Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications into Amgen's cloud environment. We are currently extending our capabilities to integrate serverless and microservices CI/CD pipelines with AWS. Job Responsibilities: * Work with team members on elements of the pipeline and add, refactor, and improve capabilities across our cloud security architecture and our continuous CI/CD pipeline * Participate in efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions and services. * Work to improve and extend the serverless pipeline, delivering better CI/CD for new applications using a growing array of services from AWS. * Be an integral member of the core DevOps/DataOps development team and help develop, test, deploy, and operate the service 24x7x365 globally. Basic Qualifications Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience OR Associate degree and 6 years of directly related experience OR High School / GED and 8 years of directly related experience Preferred Qualifications * BS or MS in computer science or related field * 1 - 3 years of experience as a full stack software engineer shipping successful commercial products and/or services to customers using a SDLC process from start to finish * Experience using one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, C, C++, Swift/Objective C, Python, Go, C#, or JavaScript. * Experience in User Interface (UI) development using modern web technologies and patterns such as MVC/MVP/MVVM, REST, HTML/CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript * Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, highly concurrent programming, and software design patterns * Willing and able to learn a new technologies at a rapid pace * Communication skills to work with client partners in articulating the vision of automation, DevSecOps, and DataOps.
