Oath is a global media and technology company with offices in over 27 countries and a goal of 2 billion consumers by 2020. Our brands include Yahoo, AOL, HuffPost, Tumblr, and Flurry with Yahoo! being number one in News, Sports and Finance. We're looking for someone to join us on the Publishing and Shared Tech team where we build the tools that enable our brands to deliver engaging content to consumers across 175 countries.
Our team provides the Oath brands with tools for original content creation, content ingestion from third party providers, storage and on demand content manipulation, as well as curation and syndication. We use everything from big data (Hadoop and other grid/cloud technologies) to cutting edge HTML/CSS/JS experiences at a level of complexity and scale few companies do. And as a platform and services team we interact with product, editorial, and business units across the company and around the world on a daily basis.
A Lot About You
As a front end software engineer at Oath you will specialize in building high performance, scalable, cross-browser compatible, accessible, and elegant web applications with HTML, CSS, JS and related technologies. You will work hand in hand with world-class teams of other software engineers and architects as well as backend engineers, cloud data experts, and computer scientists to build amazing products for creating and curating digital content. We are a distributed team with a heavy concentration of our team in New York City and Sunnyvale, CA plus many others spread out from Raleigh to Denver to Seattle. We expect you to bring great written and verbal communication skills and we will provide the technology to keep you connected to the rest of the team. Your typical day will involve collaboratively documenting task requirements, writing code and opening pull requests, getting on video conference calls to participate in team code reviews and informational meetings, and releasing shiny new features into production.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Experience with software engineering processes, tools, methods, test development
Basic understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
Experience with version control systems (we use Git)

If you have any of the below skills or experience its a huge plus, otherwise be prepared to ramp up in these areas:
Experience building reusable code and libraries for future use
Experience with testing frameworks
Experience with JIRA tracking systems or similar
Experience working in linux environments
Experience with Kibana or Splunk
Experience working with distributed teams
Experience troubleshooting and debugging distributed applications
