Software Engineer - Communication Network Effects Simulator

L3 Technologies Communication Network Effects Simulator (CNES) team is a research and development group aimed at invention and innovation in the area of networked RF modeling and simulation. Our tools provide a virtual flight test environment used to develop the next generation military communication systems. We develop high fidelity real-time models of advanced autonomous networked RF communications. We use grounding breaking techniques in hardware accelerated real-time computing, database analytics, inter-process communication, high fidelity physics based RF modeling, advanced visualization techniques, and a host of other exciting technologies.

We are currently seeking an experienced, skilled and innovative software developer. New team members will have a central role in software research and development activities. These activities include design, implementation, test, and integration of next generation real-time modeling and simulation tools.

  • LI-MM1

  • A bachelor's degree in CS/EE or a degree in a closely related field and 5 years of experience. Advanced degrees preferred.

  • Must have extensive development experience with C 11. C 14/17 experience is desired. Other languages such as Java, Python, and JavaScript are desirable.

  • Must have Linux development experience.

  • Must have working knowledge of Object Oriented Design and Architecture.

  • Must have experience with multi-threaded, multi-process application development.

  • Must have the ability to get a US security clearance.

  • Working experience with inter-process communication techniques including ZeroMQ, gRPC, and Google Protocol Buffers is desirable.

  • Working experience with noSQL databases.

  • Working experience with SQL data analytics is desirable.

  • Solid understanding of Modeling and Simulation techniques is desirable.

  • Solid understanding of networking techniques including network protocol stacks, packet switching, routing, and bridging is desirable.

  • Knowledge and experience of virtual machine and/or Docker container configuration and development is desirable.

  • Networking application and device driver development experience is desirable.

  • Knowledge of basic wireless communication is a plus.

  • To qualify you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able function well in a team environment.

Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicant's skills, education and experience.

Due to the nature of our work qualified candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
