Job Description

This individual will design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs and software enhancements to be used with next generation networking products. Develops software including operating systems, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. While this individual will develop software, they will also determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs portions of computer/server architecture and algorithms based on established software engineering principles and in accordance with provided specifications and requirements.

  • Codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools

  • Executes established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues.

  • Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.

  • Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers including internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable high quality solutions for low to moderately- complex products.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 4-6+ years of experience in C development and/or ASIC development, verification or implementation.

  • Strong C development experience is a must.

  • C & Python a BIG plus and very desirable

  • SDK Development & knowledge of testing fundamentals.

  • Understanding of design for software systems running on multiple platform types

  • Networking experience a BIG plus

  • Understanding of coding, and debugging procedures

  • STRONG written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working within multiple development teams

Specifically the team is responsible for creating Aruba NetEdit. Aruba NetEdit empowers IT teams to orchestrate multiple switch configurations with intelligent capabilities including search, edit, validation (including conformance checking), deployment and audit. Must be familiar with IT workflow and high scale application development. Responsibilities: * Provide direct and ongoing strategic leadership for the functional organization of multiple subordinate managers and high-level individual contributors designing and developing engineering solutions utilizing multiple engineering disciplines for products, systems, software, and solutions. * Create strategic and tactical operations and resource plans, goals, and priorities for assigned organization based on business and technology roadmap and functional objectives. * Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for the organization, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with organizational metrics and business plans. * Engage with program managers, marketing, supply chain, technical leaders and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making * Manage senior relationships and escalated issues with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that organization is effectively leveraging outsourced resources. * Identify opportunities for and drives organizational initiatives and programs to support business process improvements and cost reductions. * Provide overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; drives and fosters organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team member and process development. Required Qualifications: * First level university degree or equivalent experience required. Advanced university degree is strongly preferred. Degree must be in computer science, computer engineering or another engineering field. * 15 or more years of related work experience, including 10 years of people management experience. * Experience managing first level managers. * Proven experience growing a technical team and developing/retaining talent. * Domain expertise relating to embedded software in the layer 1 environment. * Experienced in leading teams responsible for multiple product bring-ups occurring simultaneously. Location: This executive must be based in our Roseville, CA (Sacramento area) engineering hub. Relocation assistance will be offered.
