Software Engineer 2

Overview

Garmin Int'l Inc. seek Software Engineer 2 (Olathe, KS; Multiple Positions)

Job Duties:

• Develop REST API's, which are scalable, supportable, and reliable that service the entire Garmin ecosystem.

• Participate in the full lifecycle of development, including conception, analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment.

• Work with developers across the globe on cutting edge technologies, including microservices and containers.

• Work in an Agile environment delivering code frequently to production.

• Work on our web and business integration platforms that services various processes into and out of our Oracle backend system.

• Deliver innovative and modern features. Partner with architects to design resilient applications. Utilize Garmin and Third-Party Developer APIs.

• Serve as a mentor to less experience software engineers.

• Supports working hours as part of a rotating schedule to provide on call support of Garmin's 24/7 operations.

• Associates are permitted to work from home, within commuting distance of office, up to two days per week provided that

• their job duties can be performed effectively while working from home, and if they have appropriate approval from their manager.

• Full-time remote work is not available.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, IT or related and 1 year of

professional experience developing in Java.

Must have demonstrated experience in the following:

• Java 8 (e.g. JDK 1.8/JRE 1.8) or higher

• REST API, Microservices architecture with Spring Boot

• Basic server design and debugging

• Understanding of relational data fundamentals

• J2EE technologies, SQL, Oracle, Spring, and REST

• Test Tools including Junit, Mockito and JMeter in implementing unit tests and integration test suites.

• Version control systems including SVN or Git

• Swagger, Docker or Kubernetes

• Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or similar application
