Marin is rapidly building out our Big Data infrastructure. We've already built out a 100+ node, petabyte size cluster, and now is a great opportunity to join as a key member of the team and be at the center of the action. We are in an active search for a Data Science Engineer, Bidding to bring real world experience of data analysis and machine learning techniques on vast datasets. We enjoy intense mathematics and computer science challenges and approach these problems with creativity and teamwork.   • Challenging Machine Learning problems in Bid Prediction in the search advertising space.

  • Analyze large datasets on Spark. Contribute to open source, work on mlib & Presto!

  • Work on convex portfolio optimization techniques in the display advertising space.

  • Matrix Factorization methods at scale comparable to the Netflix Challenge, to identify target audiences for product segments


  • 2+ years relevant work experience

  • Experience with Scala, Spark, functional programming.

  • Statistical Programming (Matlab, R, Python)

  • Industry experience with data analytics projects involving machine learning/optimization in production

  • Industry experience working with or developing distributed systems, especially distributed data stores a plus (Spark, HBase, Presto)

  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics or other quantitative discipline


This is an on-site, full time salaried position located in our San Francisco world headquarters office. Marin Software provides Equity participation, best in class comprehensive health plans including medical, vision and dental, in addition to flex time off and reimburses 50% of monthly commuting costs for parking and/or mass transit up to the IRS limitations. About the Role The software quality assurance team at Business Wire is a mix of QA engineers and test automation engineers working on a wide-array of applications ranging from legacy to cloud. We support multiple development teams in several product areas. We focus on continuous improvement and finding better ways to test so that we can deliver great software and products. We are a diverse team, and we are always learning. The software QA engineer tests our many Business Wire software applications, both in the context of ongoing sprint work as well as larger projects and releases. Much of this is manual testing, but with a technological focus; be prepared to also use various specialized automated test tools and our custom test automation framework. You will be continually pushing the boundaries of what (and how) we test, and you will constantly be looking for ways to improve our processes to yield ever-better quality outcomes. What You'll Do * Partner with development teams to understand features, and then figure out how to test them * Identify and write test cases, and grow our body of regression tests * Partner with the test automation engineers to identify automatable tests * Identify, log, and track issues as part of sprint work and during larger test projects and releases * Execute test plans and report on testing status during test projects and releases * Run test automation as needed, locally or as build system jobs * Maintain a broad understanding of our applications (which includes web sites, APIs, SaaS integrations, cloud native services, and more), and dive deep into functional areas as needed What You'll Need * 2-5 years of QA experience showing increasing skill and responsibility; you should have a deep understanding of QA standards and software project lifecycle * 1+ years defining and writing your own test cases based on a strategic plan for coverage * Extensive experience with the validation of enterprise-class software applications * Experience with Agile methodologies, mastery of testing in an agile context * Experience with open source test tools, like Selenium and Appium * Exposure to continuous integration tools, like Jenkins * Experience with distributed version control systems, like git * Hands on experience with test automation beyond Selenium would be a bonus Skills * Excellent written and verbal skills * Demonstrated ability for complex problem-solving * Self-motivated, able to work independently, and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision * Good understanding of product life cycle, including software development methodologies, design, and implementation * Comfortable with the pressure of testing in an agile delivery system * Must have a solid foundation of software test experience, and a strong grasp of quality assurance philosophies and practices.
