Job Summary:

Provide software engineering support to the

State of Florida DCF projects, career development application, and otherprojects as requested. Coordinates andsupports all aspects of the software life cycle from design throughdevelopment, support and re-engineering.

Work Scope (Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Design, develop, maintain and document web software database projects using Java, JavaScript, XML, XSP, XSL, and Java Server Faces technology, Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) , open source such as Apache-Tomcat-Cocoon, and other development tools running in Linux or Windows on IBM compatible PCs

  • Assist with the coding, documenting, testing, and implementation of the systems being developed.

  • Perform duties as the project Quality Assurance Manager.

  • Support application documentation including the User's Guides, Training Manuals, Requirements Specifications, Design Documents and Implementation Plans.

  • Use Captivate software to create and maintain tutorial and test videos for the systems being developed.

  • Develop projects in accordance with Jacobs' Standard Software Process.

BS degree in Computer Science or related scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and certifications.

Knowledge,skills & abilities required:

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures regarding software design, development, test and documentation, QA and production, research, technology solutions and architectures.

  • Ability to acquire new technical knowledge quickly and effectively.

  • Familiar with cross-platform mobile application development

  • Familiar with data import methods from multiple, external sources

  • Ability to design and build static and dynamic reports

  • Excellent research and analysis skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Must be reliable and committed to completing assignedprojects on schedule with minimal supervision.

Training& Certifications

  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS, Linux, Open Source Systems, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, and XML required.
  • CMMI training as assigned by supervisor

Guidelines(level of supervision required to perform):

  • Works under general supervision. Creativity and independent judgment is required.

Complexityof tasks/responsibilities:

  • Work consists of a variety of duties that involve many different processes and methods pertinent to the field.

  • Employee decides what needs to be done by evaluating unusual circumstances, considering different approaches, and dealing with incomplete and conflicting data.

  • Employee uses judgment and originality by interpreting data, planning the work and refining the methods and techniques being used.

Physical Requirements:

Primarily sedentary - Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Work Environment:

Must maintain a positive workatmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along withcustomers, clients, co-workers and management.

Must be able to work independentlyand with minimal supervision.

Equipment and Machines:

Standard office equipment andmachines, computer workstation.

Attendance:

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA& approved time off, attendance is considered essential. Must be able to work within theshift hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. May be required to work outside ofnormal shift hours when required for mission support.

Travel:

Limited

Other Essential Functions:

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to secure and maintain a security clearance.

Must be able to read and writeeffectively in English.
