Job Responsibilities

  • Your work will contribute to the development of our next generation of connectivity devices for aircraft flown all around the world and you will have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by a fun-loving and intelligent team.

The successful candidate will;

  • Apply knowledge: Product domain, Requirements, Design, Development, Test and Release software processes, tools, methods and coding best practices with primary emphasis on software design and development.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate the appropriate processes and tools into product development, resulting in increased product quality and improving customer satisfaction.

  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test and document software in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.

  • Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.

  • Performs in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.

  • Provides engineering estimates for own work on tasks similar to those previously performed.

  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.

  • Travel could be an option with our team located in France, India, and Annapolis!

  • This position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30 am to 4:30 pm workday, or beyond 40 hour work weeks.

  • Requirements (Qualifying Questions)

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

  • Software development using C++ or equivalent language

  • Additional experience a plus:

  • Skills in embedded C++ and Object Oriented design

  • Experience in an avionics/aerospace domain environment

  • Knowledge of working on a Linux OS

  • Cellular and networking experience

  • Development experience in an Agile environment

  • Development experience in Python (or scripting) or Robot automated test framework

The position will be part of a cross-functional team developing embedded software for the growing field of aircraft information management solutions. As a Software Engineer in this organization, you will have the opportunity to work on all phases of the software life cycle using Agile software development practices following the Scaled Agile Framework. This position will develop software using C++14 on a Linux platform with functionality focused on using cellular and networking technologies to create a messaging platform that connects the aircraft to a ground infrastructure. The movement of data from air to ground and from ground to air will help streamline airline operations and allow more information to be available sooner.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

Job Summary Collins Aerospace Flight Management Systems (FMS) is currently seeking a talented software engineer to fulfill the Project Engineering role to lead the design, development, debug and test of industry-leading real time embedded FMS applications. As a Senior Software/Systems Engineer (Project Engineer) in the Flight Management Systems organization, you will be responsible for working with other software and systems engineers to develop and maintain software applications used on Business & Regional and Air Transport aircraft. Job Responsibilities * Expand FMS product domain knowledge including processes and tools * Current familiarity with an FMS system is a definite plus * Contribute to software engineering activities of moderate complexity including: requirements capture; designing coding and testing changes; integration of changes within a system (including working with cross-functional teams); preparation of software builds for test execution; support formal verification activities. * Taking technical ownership of assigned areas * Proactively identifying and communicating technical software issues and help resolve these issues. Ensure these issues are elevated to project leadership for resolution. * Ensuring the project's defined software process for development verification and configuration management is followed and that they comply with the recommendations of RTCA DO 178B.
