AbleTo Sr. Software Quality Engineers are engineers; they develop code. They are dedicated to ensuring we get it right the first time by driving quality automation throughout our SDLC and participating as a peer engineer within our Lean-Agile product engineering group. Responsibilities include requirement analysis using advanced behavior driven development (BDD) techniques, defining test strategies, test planning and execution activities, test automation, authoring and reviewing product documentation, and ensuring overall product quality including usability, performance, and stability. Quality Engineers must be able to prioritize responsibilities and work with their Agile teammates to streamline, integrate, and continuously improve the effectiveness of our software quality development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Define detailed BDD acceptance criteria and test scenarios in order to align key business capabilities and features with customer value streams.

  • Lead the creation of automated test assets and coordinate test environment usage with other teams as necessary.

  • Define test strategy, implement & execute automated test cases, and analyze test outputs to ensure verification & validation of components to maximize product quality.

  • Report software defects and collaborate with peer engineers to ensure they are fixed and thoroughly tested.

  • Perform and/or lead other team members in all forms of product testing including test case creation and execution, exploratory testing, system integration, usability, regression and performance testing.

  • Analyze test coverage for existing and new tests regularly, incorporate feedback from defects and escalations into regression suites.

  • Develop, maintain and closely partner with peer engineers and coordinate the automation strategy for the application using BDD techniques.

  • Participate in release and iteration kickoffs, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, and other team meetings as necessary for the agile team.

  • Review and/or suggest improvements to product documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency during iterations and/or at release time.

  • Collaborate with product manager and development team to facilitate successful delivery of quality products to our customers.

  • Drive continuous improvement of testing and development practices to make the team more efficient, deliver higher quality products, and ship on time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent).

  • 7+ years of automated software testing working with software testing tools, and automated web service, web application and mobile testing techniques.

  • 5+ years engineering tests with Git, Cucumber, JavaScript, PHP, Python, SQL, HTML5.

  • 5+ years testing RESTful APIs and HTML5 single-page web applications.

  • 5+ years working within advanced Agile Scrum and Kanban quality processes.

  • 3+ years of experience in an SDET role

  • 3+ years working with advanced CI/CD automation techniques and tools.

  • 3+ years working with and validating results using SQL.

  • Experience testing mobile applications a plus

Competencies:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Behavior Driven Development techniques (Gherkin) and test automation tools (Behat/PHP, Cucumber/JavaScript).

  • Strong technical knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) and Cloud (Google) infrastructure configurations and operations.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and timeliness in decision making.

  • Clinical/Healthcare regulated product and technology background.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

SDET's work in cross functional teams on test tools and frameworks so that writing tests is seamless and can be undertaken by any developer on the team (think TDD). At Shutterstock an SDET should be proficient in coming up with test cases and describing how they can be written either by the SDET or another developer. A Shutterstock SDET should also be able to drive quality within the team by encouraging team members to test their code at all levels (unit tests, integration tests, performance tests, end to end tests, security tests. etc.) and creating/implementing test tools to make testing as efficient as possible. Responsibilities: * Be part of a stand alone engineering team working closely with other engineers and product managers in rolling out enhancements and new features. * Work on key features across Shutterstock.com. * Build out automation frameworks to help integrate automated tests seamlessly into current development process. * Drive quality across team by constantly building easy-to-use test frameworks and influencing developers to move towards test driven development. * Work with real world problems faced in scaling the business, suggest innovations/enhancements and work with team in implementing and rolling them out. Requirements: * 3-5 years of experience in software testing and software development. * Proficient in one of the following - Javascript, Python, Node.js, Java, C#, C, or C++. * Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, algorithms and data structures. * Ability to run and write test plans and generate test cases based on Agile stories. * Be the voice of quality and the customer in sprint planning and grooming meetings. * Participate in developer code reviews and encourage testable code and high unit test coverage. * Write automated tests at all testing levels (unit, integration, end-to-end, etc.). Experience with Python, pytest, C++, Java, Selenium, Jest, Mocha, Puppeteer, Nock, Node-Replay, SonarQube is desired. * Participate in and organize bug bash sessions promoting exploratory testing amongst people from multiple areas within the company. * Manage a small team of manual testers. * Set up alert monitoring in our production environment to notify the team of production issues. * Performance test and stress test our application to ensure a pleasant customer experience.
