Salary: Up to 90K

About the Software Developer: This position is for someone who
lives and breathes consumer facing web applications. You will be
solving every imaginable cross domain JavaScript issues, and must
have the passion in figuring out how to asynchronously make the
backend systems they rely on run in parallel to speed up the
interface. My client's team has a mix of web application, API and
DB developers along with UI/UX designers. You must be comfortable
in working between the UI/UX designers and the API developers.
You will own the development of all aspects of the UI from the
JavaScript/CSS through the business logic layer and through to
our backend API's.

Requirements for the Software Developer:

Bachelor's degree preferred
3+ years professional development experience.
2+ years UI/UX front end development
Angular.JS is required
Object Oriented languages that we use or can be considered:

(PHP, Ruby on Rails, Java

JavaScript
JQuery/JQueryUI -
Angular.js
Ionic
Ajax
Microsoft MVC C#

Bonus Points / NOT Required: - iOS/Android native experience -
Photoshop

We are looking for someone who can help us empower our teams to build innovative, engaging designs at scale by expanding the capabilities of our enterprise-level UI library. We're looking for a systems-minded UI Engineer to join our team. The right person is passionate about developing and maintaining components and design patterns that are used across product portfolios. You have experience evolving, extending and implementing existing systems that have raised the quality of the user's experience. In this role you will build and support our library of components in a way that is scalable and sustainable, and adheres to our coding standards. This includes anticipating edge cases, allowing for extensibility and reusability, producing quality documentation and example code, and meeting Nationwide's expectations for accessibility. You will work closely with an Interaction Designer and Visual Designer, to define and extend a robust yet flexible design system, as well as processes that elevate the quality and efficiency of our work. You will also partner with product designers and engineers to establish, build and maintain a comprehensive library of shared components. You will evangelize Nationwide's design system, Bolt, and its benefits to others across the organization, and support engineers in their efforts to adopt and implement the system. Responsibilities: * Create pattern specifications and assets that are on-brand for multi-device web experiences and consist of reusable standards. * Participate in the planning, development, and governance process of new patterns. * Responsible for working with the broader UX team to translate standards through audits, documentation, and discussions to establish consensus. * Develop reusable, responsive components using web components and scalable, semantic CSS * Contribute to usage and API documentation for both designers and engineers * Address and fix bugs in both our design system and in production apps * Provide constructive feedback to designers, both ad hoc and in structured reviews * Collaborate with product owners to improve the core user experience through our design system * A design system engineer is expected to understand how the site is created and be able to add new functionality and/or apply fixes to existing functionality. * Provide minor engineering support for product teams consuming the design system. Qualifications: * 5+ years of frontend experience designing & implementing highly interactive user interfaces for high volume web applications * Experienced with building an extensive component and pattern library along with the templates, documentation and reference applications * Expertise in CSS, preprocessors (Sass, Less, etc) and building for multiple screen sizes (responsive design) * Expertise in JavaScript fundamentals and experience creating scalable, performant components using JS. * Working knowledge of Angular, React, and/or Vue. * Up-to-date understanding of W3C standards (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) and cross-browser/multi-device support * Experience using version control (Git), unit testing JavaScript (e.g. Jest, Enzyme, Mocha, Chai, etc.) and other modern front-end tools (ex: Webpack, Babel, Gulp, etc.) * Strong working knowledge of creating Accessible code that meets, or exceeds, WCAG 2.1 AA standards. * Ability to communicate well with both designers and engineers, and receive feedback openly * Exceptional debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills Job Description Summary Do you shine in at least one core user experience (UX) competency?
