Develops system enhancements by gathering information, writing specifications, encoding, testing, debugging, and documenting ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.): * Codes, tests and debugs programs and support files to ensure operational efficiency, facilitate user processing needs and support company initiatives. Ensure accuracy and quality of data output. * Meet with users and IT staff to analyze processes, gather requirements, evaluate solutions, and create specifications * Designs and develops technical solutions including the writing of new programs, scripts, and support files * Directs the coding of technical solutions by giving instructions to others using pre-established guidelines * Assists in maintaining current legacy applications including programs, scripts, and supporting files * Analyze and design new data structures or revise current data structures as needed to support approved solutions * Provide troubleshooting and technical support to end users or other IT staff when necessary * Do research to evaluate and advise on new or revised technology to solve problems or enhance applications * May be required to learn new operating systems and programming environments QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages required: COBOL, SQL,, PowerShell * Knowledge of Linux operating system, including shell scripting and various commands and utilities (Perl) * Knowledge of database management systems, relational databases preferred * Knowledge of HIPAA 837/835/270/271 and general medical claims terminology a plus. * Excellent communication and customer service skills and knowledge of general business applications * Good verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills with a team-oriented approach along the ability to work efficiently, independently or with others. * The ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies. * Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. * Organized, logical, creative, with good judgment, and with effective troubleshooting skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity suite. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
