Who we are:

Come Join Our Team! GDIT is a government contractor providing professional and technical services to various government agencies (i.e. defense). We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our winning team. The individual hired for this position will provide support for our government customer located at Eglin AFB, FL.

What you'll do:

  • Performs the work necessary to design, develop, document, test, integrate, and modify operating systems and application software for aviation systems

  • Develops, creates, troubleshoots, and modifies specialized utility programs and applications in support of real-time systems

  • Performs hardware and software development planning in the incorporation of hardware and software modifications into aviation systems

  • Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle

  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions

  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code

  • Helps to lead other S/W engineers to perform and assist in duties.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelors degree in electronics or computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent

  • A minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in software development

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows and various Unix flavors, such as Linux

  • Familiar with software development and diagnostic tools

  • CompTIA Security+ CE preferred

  • Desired Programming Languages: Assembly; C, C++; Microsoft .Net (C#, VB); Java

  • Desired Operating Systems: Windows 7/10, Windows Server 2008R2, Windows Server 2012R2, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5,6,7

  • Secret Security Clearance

This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Joint Staff J6 Joint Assessment Division (JAD) conduct system of systems interoperability assessments. In this mission Leidos is helping JAD to transform from a platform centric to data centric assessment posture. The candidate will work with fellow engineers, subject matter experts and analysts in solving technical problems and providing assistance during all phases of design, installation, and operation of data collection hardware and software at JAD garrison and deployed environments. The candidate will contribute to the production of software applications that enhance analyst ability to perform queries and retrieve data in a time-sensitive manner.</p><p>Primary Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Manage the system engineering life-cycle for software and hardware data collection components, including development, test, and implementation.</p></li><li><p>Write and maintain source code for one or more JAD automated tools to support task and product requirements - e.g., JWinWAM, DCAAF, MIG.</p></li><li><p>Develop solutions to complex technical issues regarding automated tool integration within deployed networks to satisfy unique JAD event data collection requirements.</p></li><li><p>Interact with JAD functional peer groups and customers to gain cooperation regarding solution design and approaches to operations.</p></li><li><p>Interact with government and contractor client members external to JAD regarding automated tool training and feedback.</p></li></ul><p>Basic Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>Master's degree in software engineering (or other engineering/math field) and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Bachelor's and 10+ years of prior relevant experience.
