This is an entry level Software Developer position as a member of a dynamic team responsible for developing and maintaining software that improves air traffic operations in the National Airspace System (NAS).

The environment is either object oriented (primarily C++/Java), or C language on a UNIX/ Linux platform.


Working both as a member of a team and independently the successful candidate will be:

  • Optimizing the experience for the flying public and Air Traffic Control

  • Developing and maintaining the FAA air traffic control software (primarily C/Java) on a UNIX/Linux platform.

  • Performing software development as needed for the system

  • Providing support needed for system engineering and test engineering

  • Deriving requirements to meet customer needs

  • Troubleshooting technical issues and identifying modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing FAA requirements

  • Developing the design for new enhancements

  • Working in a team environment





Degree in: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent. Ability to develop in C ++, C, Java and UNIX/Linux. Knowledge of full-life cycle software application development. Excellent written/verbal communication skills.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/ combined education. Entry level.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires BS degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
