Job Description:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:Modernization programming and maintenance of existing, planned and future Air Force Reserve Command Information Technology systems and related software.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

PRIMARY -

  • Systems Sustainment: Design, develop, test and package systems and software changes and provide problem resolutions for existing systems. This includes System Maintenance, Migration and Integration and Systems Operations to support Database Administration, Systems Administration and Training.

  • Information Services: SOA Applications and Data Services, Aggregation Services, Information Assets for Exposure, Registration and Web Services, Vocabulary Management and Data Stores.

  • Software Maintenance/Sustainment: Program and maintain applications, sustain existing applications, test all aspects of applications, create demonstration models, recommend data sources and interface design, draft and create screen layouts and menu designs and modify/upgrade applications and implement changes to include all life-cycle phases according to schedules and create operating systems agnostic mobile applications as required.

  • Architecture and System Design: Support design and programming of systems and applications and the integration into overarching enterprise architecture. Actions will be in accordance with (IAW) Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF), Global Combat Support System (GCSS) guidelines, DoD Mobility Strategy and Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC).

  • Testing: Rapid testing and deployment of Core Data Services and Aggregation and Presentation Layer Services to include; Product/System Integration Testing, Simulated Operational Testing, Acceptance Testing and System Performance Testing.

  • Information Assurance (IA): 1. System IA - solutions not in existing network security controls requiring entirely new applications combinations of hardware, firmware and software performed IAW TCP/IP DoDModel and DoDI 8500.2 and AFI 33-200. 2. Application IA - solutions deployed to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) controls, application security assurance IAW TCP/IP DoD Model, DISA STIG and DoDI 8520.02 and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

SECONDARY -

  • Maintain existing systems and environments IAW disciplined practices and sustain applications, databases and interfaces in compliance with applicable Air Force/DoD standards.

  • Support system sustainment activities to include maintaining excising legacy systems and environments and to sustain applications, databases and interfaces with each system evaluated for better functionality and modernization

  • Provide application services to support, maintain and operate systems or services.

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable security and safety regulations.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics are representative of those performing essential functions of the job in an information technology office environment. Must be able to sit for periods of time while engaged in work on computer related equipment (monitor/desktop/laptop/keyboard/telephone and potentially mobile devices). Standard work week but expected to work as the requirement dictates.

Experience and Skills

JOB SKILLS:

Required/Preferred (Not all technologies may necessarily be required depending on specific job duties)

  • Proficient in computer technologies and associated applications/language/code used by DoD Air Force Reserve Command/Air National Guard; .Net, Angular, REACT, T-SQL, SharePoint 2013 Large Farm, SharePoint 201X, SSRS, SOA Web Services, C, C#, Telerick Rad Controls, Kendo UI web Controls, Entity Framework, WCF, VB.Net, Web API, HTML 1-5, Bootstrap, Xamarin, Jquery, Scripting, Java Script, Native Cross Platform and Classic ASP.

  • Operating Systems in use: MS Windows 2012 and higher

  • Database Systems in use: MS SQL 2012 and higher

  • COTS in use: SharePoint 2013 (testing SP 2016), Visual Studio 2015, MS Team Foundation Server 2013

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent mandatory.

  • Four year degree in computer science, IT, software development or other similar field highly preferred but not required.

  • Experience in a Federal/Department of Defense (DoD) information technology environment preferred.

Must be able to work with minimal daily direction in a fast-paced, demanding, and fluid environment. Candidate must possess strong problem solving and analytical skills. Candidate must be highly organized with great attention to detail. Exceptional written communication skills and interpersonal skills to frequently interact with all levels of the organization and external customers are essential.
