We are seeking a full-time developer to join our software development team. Our development team at the Legislative Service Center, also known as LEG-TECH, is a little more unique than others in state government. Our key stakeholder is the Legislature. We design and develop mission-critical custom applications for legislative processes and applications that present legislative information to the public. As a member of our team, you will actively participate in the collaborative decision-making process for application design, architecture, and technologies, contributing your expertise to help shape the final outcomes. Some of the things you will enjoy doing:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining software to support the Washington State Legislature

• Building and supporting web and Windows applications with languages and technologies such as C#, .NET, WPF, JavaScript, IIS, T-SQL, JSON, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, and Blazor/JQuery

• Modernizing and migrating legacy applications

• Writing and executing unit tests and automated build scripts

• Building Web and RESTful APIs that are shared by many applications

• Developing and delivering high-value working software using the Agile/Scrum framework

• Leading and mentoring lower-level software developers

• Working with diverse developers to improve our development processes and refine our standards and principles

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute, year for year, for the preferred education).

• 8+ years as a full stack, object-oriented developer with hands-on experience implementing and deploying modern solutions using Microsoft technologies

• Work experience with Microsoft Azure cloud technology

• Proficient with UI/UX tools and practices

• Proficient in ORM/RDBMS, MS SQL Server, writing complex SQL queries

• Proficient with design patterns, specifically in multi-tier application design

• Proficient in DevOps/CI/CD and building out delivery pipelines

• Proficient in working with Agile development practices

• Proficient with accessible IT software, technology, practices, and policies

Other Requirements:

• Extended hours or weekend work during the legislative session, special-session, and/or pre-session preparations may be required

• Must be a resident of Washington State or willing to relocate

Note

This is a hybrid work position in Washington State. While we embrace a "remote-first" work approach, this is a crucial role and an on-site presence will be necessary at times but predictable. Developing rapport with our team and customers is critical in this role. We rely on discretion to determine when team, colleague, and customer interactions require an in-person presence. 

Salary Range

The starting salary range for this position is $100,488.00 - $146,700.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
