SCHEDULE: Full Time, Hybrid

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 0% - 5%

COMPENSATION: $72,380.00 to $174,051.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

The Software Developer designs, develops, tests, and maintains business applications to support the association's operational and strategic goals. This role focuses on building and enhancing client-server, web-based, and PC-based applications using Microsoft .NET technologies.

The Software Developer collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, aligns systems with business needs, and provides technical expertise to improve software performance and user experience.

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Designs, develops, and implements software solutions using Microsoft .NET technologies to support business processes and decision-making systems.
  • Analyzes business requirements to create efficient and scalable application designs.
  • Writes, tests, and debugs code to ensure high-performance, reliable software solutions.
  • Develops and executes unit test plans, identifies defects, and ensures software quality.
  • Prepares and executes implementation plans, including rollback and recovery strategies.
  • Provides ongoing production support, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary updates.
  • Estimates project timelines, delivers work within established deadlines, and communicates progress effectively.
  • Actively participates in Agile development practices within a team that may include daily stand-ups, refinement, and planning meetings.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and development best practices to enhance system performance and security.
  • Assists in mentoring and developing programming expertise within the software development team.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to recommend improvements to existing systems and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Establishes and maintains compliance with security policies, confidentiality standards, and company values.

Minimum Education & Experience

Preferred experience is at least two years proficiency in .NET development, relational databases including writing stored procedures, ORMs such as Entity Framework or Dapper, and software testing both automated and manual, with comfort in Agile methodologies. Candidates should actively engage in peer code reviews and team discussions on process improvements. The role involves independently completing tasks while collaborating with the team.

HS diploma or GED is required, along with a combination of education and relevant experience that demonstrates the necessary skills to perform the role. Completion of a certified coding or software development training program may be considered in place of some education or experience. Or Associate's degree in computer science, business, or related field with 2-3 years of relevant experience demonstrating transferable skills is preferred. Plus completion of a coding bootcamp, or equivalent experience. Candidates should have foundational knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, SQL) and a willingness to learn in a structured environment.

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
