Job Duties and Responsibilities

Dish Technologies is seeking a Software Test Engineer at our Englewood, CO office to be responsible for designing, developing and executing automated software validation testing on a wide-range of configurations and Set Top Box (STB) models. A core responsibility of this role will be to evaluate software features as candidates for automation. The Software Tester will also be responsible for participation within the entire SDLC of automation test procedures, tools, and measurement for internal and external products and services.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and execute detail oriented automation test scripts and test cases based on product specifications

  • Actively participate in test planning discussions to assure automation coverage is continuously improving

  • Collaborate with peers testers and developers to improve testing processes

  • Analyze root cause of automation test script/case failures

  • Manual testing supplementary to automation

Skills - Experience and Requirements

The successful Test Engineer will have:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related technical degree
  • 2+ years of experience in Software Test or Software Quality Assurance
  • 2+ years of experience with Java or Python scripts or automation scripting language
  • 2+ years of experience with test automation, test script creation, and modification
  • 2+ years of experience with some or all phases of testing: Functional, Regression, Integration and Performance Testing
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in technical problem solving; root cause analysis; and data gathering, analysis, and reporting within a system/software quality assurance discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with System Administration (Windows or Linux).

  • Experience in Witbe Automation

  • ISTQB Certified Tester, Foundational Level

  • Highly analytical and thorough in tasks assigned

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Accountable, committed and responsible

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities

  • Ability to work under pressure with hard deadlines

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communications and planning skills

Job Summary: This position will be responsible for integrating platform and software to service builds and modifications to test environments that include, Spectrum TV, Voice, and other Charter services platforms. This will include integration using API interfaces into platform software. Automated test and test tool development is required to support deployment automation of required system builds using Chef, Puppet, Kubernetes, UCS Director, Teraforms and internally developed tools such as OTTR and Spectrum Test Hub (STH). The position will support multiple projects/systems of medium to high complexity, and provide lab environment support across organizations. The Platform QA & Integration (PQI) team is responsible for Lab Project Intake, Design Implementation, Integration, Certification and Testing of Video, Data Center, Voice, DOCSIS based platforms. From a Platform perspective, the team also deploys physical infrastructure that include Compute, Storage, Network. In addition, PQI builds and virtual platforms for virtual machines and containers based on VMware, OpenStack, Kubernetes and a myriad of other virtual platforms to support the current and future Charter delivery platforms. The team's role requires a highly skilled staff of systems integration engineers capable of developing software automation tools to deploy and configure complex systems, integrate and manage those systems, as well as develop software to run automated load, performance, functional and regression testing in order to certify and launch new solutions into production. This position is needed to build and enhance automation tools for solution deployment, testing and ongoing support and maintenance. Required Qualifications: Experience in platform and data center technologies including Cisco UCS, NetApp Storage, VMware, Kubernetes and OpenStack. Python and or Java coding with integration into VMware, Cisco UCS, NetApp and other platform APIs. Demonstrated ability to meet delivery dates for small, medium, and large-scale development projects. Strong ability to analyze and interpret data. Proven technical writer. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Software Development, Systems Administration, Network Administration, Engineering and or related field. Related Work Experience (Number of Years): A combination skill set of Platforms, Compute, Storage Network and Application administration is preferred. Candidate would ideally have worked in the Telco industry for 2 – 5 years or more with exposure to Video based applications.
