We're seeking a full stack developer lead who is ready to work with new technologies and architectures in a forward-thinking organization that's always pushing boundaries. This person will have complete, end-to-end ownership of projects. The ideal candidate has experience building products across the stack and a firm understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and multiple back-end languages. The full stack developer will join a small team that uses new technology to solve challenges for both the front-end and back-end architecture, ultimately delivering amazing experiences for global users.

SUMMARY

Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth. Develop new features and infrastructure in support of rapidly emerging business and project requirements. Assume leadership of new projects, from conceptualization to deployment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume leadership in rebuilding/reimagining existing projects to meet new requirements.

  • Work with company's "internal customers" (department leads, program managers, end-users, etc.) to conduct need assessments and derive software requirements.

  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, and maintain high standards for code quality and application design.

  • Work with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices and pursuing continued learning opportunities.

  • Assist in maintaining existing systems by updating and remediating reported issues.

  • Perform unit and integration testing of software, troubleshooting and debugging of the system.

  • Develop software design documentation and test scenarios.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate software peer reviews as well as reviews with internal customers.

  • Perform secure integration for Katmai internal systems with external SaaS solutions.

  • Function and perform as the primary CostPoint SaaS administrator.

  • Assist in producing end-user documentation for training purposes.

  • Seek and participate in personal development opportunities to maintain a detailed knowledge of industry standards, engineering best practices, and business needs.

  • Assume technical leadership of project components or features.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or computer engineering preferred.

  • In lieu of degree, six (6+) plus years of relevant experience.

  • Five (5+) plus years of industry experience.

  • Experience with design, development, enhancement, troubleshooting, and debugging of web applications.

  • Experience in designing and integrating secure RESTful APIs.

  • Experience with software development tools and technology such as Docker, Nexus, Git, Gradle, Groovy, Gogo Shell, IntelliJ IDEA, Fortify, Ruby, Java/JRuby, React, JavaScript, SQL, CSS, HTML.

  • Experience in unit/integration testing.

  • Experience in Microsoft SQL design, management, and porting to/from various database platforms.

  • Experience in Microsoft SharePoint administration, design, and support.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).

  • Demonstrable experience in project management.

  • Demonstrable experience working with non-IT personnel to create user-defined solutions.

  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills.

  • Be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks. (U.S. citizenship required)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of concepts in Computer Science (data structures, run time, common algorithms).

  • Proficient debugger with a proven track record of effectively mitigating crises in high-stakes production environments under pressure.

  • Knowledge of a variety of modern software frameworks (server side and browser side) and the versatility to learn new tools.

  • Self-starter who is comfortable working with various skill sets, other developers, and system/security engineers.

  • Upbeat and passionate about computer programming.

  • Organized and efficient with ability to assist with documenting all stages of the design solutions.

  • Web service, React, or Mobile Code development experience is a plus.

  • Interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies.

  • Professional certification(s).

Job Requirements

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-Time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

TRAVEL

The expected travel time is less than 25%.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a hybrid setting. Employee will work remotely and, in an office setting in Orlando, FL. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of seeing up close and sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.
