The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking a Software Developer & Data Integration Specialist to join our Information Technology team.

The Opportunity:

RS&H is embarking on a concerted plan to digitalize our extensive business processes and improve our use of existing data sets. To ensure we can effectively access and leverage the varied data available in the various cloud and on premise repositories, we are developing strategies and procedures for accessing these data, improving our capabilities in leveraging vendor APIs, and improving our capabilities in data analytics.

Position Summary:

The Software Developer and Data Integration role is responsible for the spectrum of custom code and data management necessary to support RS&H business requirements. This includes various techniques for the identification, extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of data between varied on premise and cloud solutions; and developing strategies for exploiting these data sets. This position leads ongoing efforts to migrate to more robust, commercial API-based ETL processes, and the development of best practices for data provisioning and integration. Responsibilities also include the creation, optimization and maintenance of custom web applications used for internal business processes. The position provides assistance in the modeling of complex business problems and discovery of business insights through the use of statistical, algorithmic, and visualization techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the code and processes for exchanging data between on premise and/or commercial cloud solutions.

  • Design, code, test and maintain internal, enterprise-wide web applications.

  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and the business usage of data.

  • Define and implement a data integration architecture to address IT and business objectives.

  • Coordinate development of principles, standards, and best practice guidelines for data management.

  • Develop the API and ETL strategy and improvements to enhance business capabilities.

  • Ensure enterprise data is structured for ease of use.

  • Support business and IT capabilities for managing and integrating unstructured information across various platforms.

  • Help IT and business teams identify and leverage external or commercial data sets to meet business objectives.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for all business applications and data interfaces.

  • Focus on the user-experience in the development of enterprise applications.

  • Proactively monitor industry trends and identify opportunities to implement new technologies in web applications and data management and analysis.

  • Lead efforts to explore data warehouse tools and techniques to meet business needs.

  • Lead efforts to explore advanced analytics methods to extract value from business data.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with multiple software development and data management tools and techniques such as .Net, Java, Python, SQL, Access, SSIS, HTML5, XML, SharePoint, etc.

  • Experience leveraging API's for information exchange between on premise and/or commercial cloud applications and databases.

  • Experience with Agile and other iterative development methodologies and the software development lifecycle.

  • Experience working with both structured and unstructured data sources.

  • Experience identifying and leveraging external data sets or data repositories.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience explaining technical concepts to business teams.

  • Experience in system and process documentation.

  • Ability to understand end-user needs and user experience.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, and willingness to learn new technologies and development methodologies.

  • Desirable qualifications include experience conducting statistical analysis and building models with advanced scripting languages such as R, SPSS or other analytic tools.

  • 10+ years of experience and Associates Degree required.
