Collective is seeking a Software Developer in Austin, TX


  • Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software programming applications and components

  • Support and/or install software applications and components

  • Work from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintain documentation of process flow

  • Utilize established development tools, guidelines, and conventions including, but not limited to, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, ASP.Net Core, C#, SQL Server, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

  • Design, code, and test new web applications

  • Enhance existing systems by analyzing business objectives, preparing an action plan, and identifying areas for modification and improvement

  • Maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects

  • Investigate and develop skills in new technologies

  • Create technical specifications and test plans

  • Create new and extend existing operational documentation

  • Consult closely with team leaders and product managers related to projects and tasks

  • Consult colleagues concerning maintenance and performance of software systems

  • Implement new software and technologies as required

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with OOD/OOP

  • Experience in C#, ASP.NET 4.x, Core, ADO.NET, Visual Studio 2017/2019 and TFS required

  • Web development experience with good working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS

  • Experience in SQL queries, triggers, and stored procedures (MS SQL Server)

  • Working knowledge of JSON, XML and Schemas

  • Communication skills, both oral and written, are essential

  • Willingness to learn new technologies

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Sencha ExtJS

  • Experience with NHibernate, Entity Framework

  • Experience in MVC Architecture

  • Web Services and Web API concepts and implementation

  • Knowledge and experience in Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)

  • Development experience in Java, J2EE development environments

  • Development of decoupled systems using messaging; specifically, experience with WebSphere MQ 7

  • Experience in Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent plus 2 to 5 years' experience in the above-mentioned required skills

  • Candidates with a degree in Computer Science but having fewer years of working experience are considered for junior developer positions.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, Sponsorship not available.

Position is for an ASP.NET / MVC Web developer with strong SQL skills on the software development team of our Digital Services group. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Functions) * Work with a team of LMI software developers and domain experts to design and develop data-intensive, web-based applications in support of multiple federal agencies using the Microsoft .NET framework and SQL Server. * Perform software development activities including requirements gathering and analysis, systems design, development, documentation, testing and integration. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Minimum B.S. in computer science, engineering, or a related field and professional experience with an emphasis on full lifecycle systems development including system design, development, and maintenance/support. * Strong demonstrated experience in web development using ASP.NET and C# with the Web Forms and MVC models. * Strong demonstrated experience working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - 2016) and developing database-driven .NET applications. * Experience using ASP.NET UI controls, 3rd party web application UI controls (e.g.Telerik, etc), and AJAX technologies. * Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, for which one must be a US citizen. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Experience working with federal healthcare agencies and programs, specifically Health and Human Services (HHS) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). * Familiar with health IT standards (e.g., HL7, DICOM, IHE, HITSP.) and federal security standards (NIST, DIACAP) strongly desired. * Hands-on experience using agile software development methodologies and practices such as Test Driven Design (TDD). Familiar with developing tests using NUnit and using tools such as Atlassian JIRA. * Experience using Object Role Models (ORM) such as the Entity Framework / LINQ to SQL. * Experience with Distributed Source Control tools such as Git or Mercurial. * Familiar with Design Patterns (implementation and explanation). * Familiar with developing reports using SQL-Server Reporting Services (SSRS). * Ability to manipulate and analyze data using Microsoft Access, Excel, or other tools. * Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and third party OLAP and data analysis tools. * Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team of software developers. * Experience working in a consultant/client environment.
