Chubb Global Risk Systems IT has an opening for a Senior Software Developer. This position will play a critical role in the support and enhancements of highly visible, strategically significant geospatial systems and services. The candidate must have strong technical experience along with the aptitude to develop an understanding of complex enterprise systems with ease. Overall responsibilities include all aspects of application development, support and implementation, including data analysis, detailed technical design, coding, and testing.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires a technologist who is an exceptionally analytical and results oriented software developer with a passion for modern technologies, an appreciation for highly complex applications, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative development environment as part of a global team.

Overall responsibilities include all aspects of application development, support and implementation, including requirements analysis, project sizing and estimation, high level and detailed design, coding, testing, deploy strategy and contingency management. The candidate is expected to be a subject matter expert on the solution, technologies used, and underlying architecture. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and must collaborate with a global team, including offshore resources.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze requirements provided by the Product Owner/Business Analysis team members and estimate effort for project management.

  • Design, implement, and deploy solutions for highly complex internal insurance applications, including contingency management and development of back-out strategies

  • Ensure that systems comply with Chubb's security, regulatory, and disaster recovery principles.

  • Optimize system for resilience, performance, and scalability

  • Demonstrate flexibility to work on both server-side (backend) and client-side (UI) components using (and learning) multiple languages as needed

  • Quickly master unfamiliar technologies and vendor APIs, understand how the components interact and fit into the overall system, and move fluidly between various technologies to diagnose and resolve issues.

  • Collaborate with team members to effectively transfer knowledge through pair programming, design workshops, and code reviews

  • Multitask and practice good time management skills, both individually and as part of a team

  • Conduct performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, and automation.

  • Demonstrate attention to security design and implementation of best practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years of experience with .NET application development within .NET environment with Visual Studio C#, MVC, WCF HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, DataTables, Kendo UI, and Knockout.

  • Experience with WMQ and web service integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML) and development with web technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to use (and learn) multiple languages on both client and server side

  • 3 years SQL Server Development Experience (TSQL, Stored Procedures, SSIS, SSRS)

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to summarize complex issues and communicate concisely.

  • Strong background in thin client architecture, object-oriented design and design patterns, service-oriented architecture, data structures, business intelligence and GIS concepts.

  • Must be organized, detail oriented and have a strong commitment towards the delivery of high quality products

  • Experience with RMS products, Azure Data Lake and BI products such as Qlik or Cognos preferred.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline

  • Self-starter with strong work ethic

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with remote team members

  • Hardworking, with a strong technical background and commitment to delivering results.

  • Experience in the domain of insurance and geospatial technology

  • Experience with change management, concurrent development and version control systems.

  • Performance profiling of applications and components

  • Developing and documenting components, libraries, and APIs to be used by other developers

  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills

  • Prior experience in the insurance industry preferred

  • Experience with RMS products, Azure Data Lake and BI products such as Qlik or Cognos preferred
