Job Objective:

We are lookingfor a passionate Software Developer for .Net server systems, with a focus oncommunicating with various devices through messaging, controller APIs, andservices. The successful candidate willbe responsible for technical design, implementation, documentation, and troubleshootingof device control protocols, applications, and servers.

Youwill work with device manufacturers and with the Talyst software team to definerequirements, design protocols and APIs and data representations, and implementservices and applications to control devices. Talyst does not manufacturehardware, but we interface to third-party devices including bar-code scanners,label printers, medication packagers, vertical storage units ("carousels"), anddispensing cabinets and refrigerators. As our products evolve, the developer will also address more middle-tierserver and database components.


  • Designand implement robust, scalable solutions to business requirements.

  • Develop,test, configure, and document application solutions using the selected toolsand technologies.

  • Developplans and estimates for project deliverables.

  • Participatein clarification of business and product requirements and device capabilities,and drive technical approaches to satisfy requirements.

  • Communicateprogress, issues, and risks in a timely manner.

  • Collaboratewith dev team members on design, task sharing, and problem solving.

  • Collaboratewith QA team members to ensure deliverables are produced on schedule and withhigh quality.

  • Beresponsible for project success (technical and stakeholder satisfaction).

  • Contributeto improving Talyst's software development process (version control, codereviews, unit testing, build/release, test automation, etc.)

  • Followsoftware engineering, security, and privacy best practices.

  • Supportand promote the Talyst values through positive interactions with both internaland external stakeholders on a regular basis.

  • Assistin other initiatives and projects as requested or assigned.


  • BSor degree in related field or equivalent experience.

  • 5+years professional coding and software development experience.

  • 2+years experience building enterprise applications and service-orientedarchitectures

  • Experienceand proficiency in:

  • C#,Visual Studio, and object-oriented programming

  • JavaScriptor at least one other scripting language

  • The.Net framework including generics and lambda expressions

  • SQLrelational database design and access

  • Multi-threadedprogramming

  • Client-servermessaging and object serialization (TCP, AMQP, XML, Json)

  • Windowsservices, REST Web services, and HTTP

  • UIimplementation using WinForms, WPF, and/or web pages

  • Sourcecontrol using Git and/or TFS

  • Devicecontrol using above technologies

  • Abilityto research a technology on the web, select a good implementation, and learn touse it effectively

  • Abilityto participate in design discussions and lead code reviews, to providecomments, and to accept and deal with comments provided by others

  • Abilityto write highly reliable and readable code

  • Strongwritten and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated,ability to be effective with minimal supervision

  • Abilityto multi-task and work across multiple projects with competing priorities anddeadlines

  • Abilityto adapt to changing requirements, business processes, etc.

  • Usefuladditional technologies include: Secure communications, NoSQL databases, IoT,Web servers, ORMs, B2B communications
