Position Core Role:

Essential Function and


Support design and installation of PC software based automation/manufacturing systems in Honda's North America Mfg. Plants.

Provide programming and debugging of custom source code to interface to automation equipment/ automotive ECU /associate (end user)

Install/Debug/Support production and vehicle test equipment for quality assurance verification

Work in a team oriented open office atmosphere

Effectively communicate technical knowledge across a variety of disciplines to collaborate on complex engineering designs.

Daily Tasks:

Manage project task assignments to achieve the cost and schedule targets for design deliverables for efficient and stable installation and startup of Honda new model and new technology introduction into production

Review and/or create software and/or hardware specifications

Provide proactive programming / debug / testing to develop reliable and proven software solutions for automotive production needs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

General knowledge of network architecture/protocols and enterprise infrastructure

Experience with troubleshooting network communication

Experience with Automotive ECU's

Experience with CAN/K-Line communication

Experience with PLC's, HMI's, Electrical Control Design a plus

Experience with .NET framework, C#, and C . Experience with Arduino, SQL, or web technologies a plus

Required Experience:

Minimum 3 months relevant experience required (including co-op/internship)

Required Education:

Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

Honda Factors:

Ability to be a self-starter on full life cycle development of a project

Must be willing to balance time spent in the office/design and the manufacturing floor environment (80%/20%)

Travel 15% (Domestic 80%/International 20%)

This is a "hybrid" design engineering position where you will support the development of scale models used in aerodynamic research and development. You will need to be able to design and support the build of physical models used in aerodynamics R&D. Job Duties * Work from scan/surface and drawing data to design scale vehicle models to be used for aerodynamic research and development in a scale wind tunnel environment * Work with aerodynamic development engineers to develop special test parts and fixtures for sensors * Work with technicians and rapid prototype team to ensure model designs are produced and implemented correctly * Support the set-up of related aerodynamic testing - including the "hands on" set-up of the model and related data gathering systems * Work with other engineers to analyze test results and address findings * Design countermeasure parts to address issues and findings from aerodynamic tests * Support iterative design/test process with a focus on achieving effective, economical, and manufacturable final automobile design Requirements Education * Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Aerospace or relevant engineering discipline Required Skills * Highly proficient in CATIA V5 part, assembly, surface (GSD) design * Experience designing individual components/parts as well as packaging automotive components into the overall vehicle using CATIA V5 * Knowledge of automotive manufacturing techniques and processes (auto assembly, injection molding, metal forming/stamping, mechanical fastening methods, welding, etc). * Ability to understand and create 2D drawings and written engineering specifications/reports * Experience using rapid protoyping and low-cost tooling/mold techniques to create physical models * Team player - must be able and willing to proactively engage other product development professionals to find feasible, effective solutions to automotive development challenges * Proactive!
