About the team:

The Software Infrastructure team at Rivian supports all aspects of change lifecycle to ensure a timely and quality vehicle software release. Our team builds Software build and test automation frameworks, frontend applications and defines/deploys toolset and processes to increase software quality and organization productivity.

This is what you'll do:

  • Design, build and maintain automation frameworks to support Software Infrastructure

  • Identify and resolve issues to increase performance, scalability and stability of systems

  • Work with cross-functional and cross-geo teams to gather, plan and implement automation requirements

  • Support release of vehicle software to production

This is what you'll need:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related program

  • Programming ninja (Python preferably)

  • Strong understanding of system design at scale

  • Knowledge of Database systems (SQL & NOSQL)

  • Knowledge of full stack development

  • Knowledge of Version control and review systems (Git, BitBucket/Gerrit, etc.)

  • Ability to thrive under pressure, ambiguity and time constraints

Preferred:

  • 2+ yrs experience with full stack development

  • 2+ yrs experience Docker, Kubernetes or other orchestration tools

  • Experience with build systems (SCons/Make, etc.)

  • Experience with Unit Test, SIL, HIL test frameworks and methodologies

  • Experience with CI/CD/CT pipelines

  • Prior automotive experience is a plus

Job Role and Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly talented Automation Engineer, responsible for all aspects of Application Operations Automation. The Application Operations team manages life cycle of enterprise application infrastructure for Middleware, Custom Portals, Cloud Native platform, SQL and NoSQL databases, ETL, Planning, Budgeting, Reporting, ERP, OAM, and BI. As an intern on the Application Operations Automation team, you will collaborate with development, release, business teams to design and build automations and services around existing platforms that are scalable and sustainable. You will also work with the Application Operations team to identify process gaps and design automated solutions. In this role you will * Develop and test internal applications focused on streamlining Application Operations. * Ensure that the automation developed is scalable and aligned to business needs of the Application Operations team. * Identify and optimize process or tasks to automate. * Ensure the automations you develop help the stability and availability of Application operation components running on VMware IT platform * Enable business to scale and be agile by supporting capacity planning and compliance. * Document the design and implementation of the automation Required Skills: * Pursuing a Bachelor's degree (rising Senior) in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems. * Strong creative and problem-solving skills * A quick learner, who finds opportunities to gain and share knowledge. * Effective communication skills with all levels of management. * Understanding of Docker containers * Understanding of Kubernetes Concepts * Understanding of the Custom Enterprise Applications Concepts * Understanding of Database concepts Preferred Skills: * Hands on technical experience in Python, Shell, Ansible or Java automation. * Hands on experience in creating automation using Jenkins or concourse pipelines Choose one option: This position is open to a candidate being Home Office local to California.
