The I.T. Software Asset Analyst is responsible for assisting internal business customers in understanding and controlling their software licensing costs by avoiding legal pitfalls related to licensing by leveraging Industry best practices while expanding licensing opportunities and building more profitable, long-term relationships with internal customers.
This is a highly analytical and detail oriented position. We are looking for someone who understands software models for client devices and servers, software term & conditions, and can communicate and explain compliancy and solutions to all levels of the organization.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring all software licensing data within our Flexera asset management system is accurate and maintained while processing a high level of daily requests and projects.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated to investigate system issues, inaccurate installations of software, audit IT managers and teams to ensure software installations and vendor T&Cs are being followed. To meet budgetary goals, this individual must be able to negotiate with vendors, understand all licensing options and present solutions to the business. We are looking for someone who has experience with a variety of software companies however, Microsoft, Oracle and IBM experience are a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Create and maintain procedures and processes for software from procurement through retirement
Act as IT liaison to ensure compliance with all IT policies and procedures regarding the appropriate use of software
Ensure software and hardware purchases are compliant with current IT standards and future direction of established support and maintenance capabilities. Review business requirements against software capabilities and licensing agreements to ensure the best solution is provided.
Monitor the use of software assets for appropriate license use, maintenance requirements, contract terms, and disposal procedures
Collect information for budgeting, software compliance, contract summaries and cost comparisons.
Maintain and/or implement a proactive strategy for software asset and license management to ensure compliance with the obligations of vendor licensing agreements, ITAM Process, and policies.
Manage contracts and vendor relationships to maximize value and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
Collaborate with management and Legal to establish internal policy and controls related to software asset management, governance and compliance.
Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related field preferred
Minimum 6 years of related work experience.
Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration and Certifications:
ITAM Certifications preferred
Must have a Colorado Class R Drivers license, with a satisfactory driving record. (Driving record will be checked through the Background check when position is offered)

Essential Responsibilities * Identify key opportunities and risks in Energy Supply and develop analysis and strategy to integrate into Corporate short-term and long-term planning of Energy Supply generation assets. Improve the financial standing of Xcel's generation assets through development and presentation of strategies to maximize Energy Supply and Corporate profitability, meet Company strategic objectives while minimizing risk. Create, and execute financial analysis that generates recommendations regarding Energy Supply investment in Xcel owned generating assets. Leverage the use of the discounted cash flow model to determine the value to the Company of plant investment and plant life-cycle decisions. Formulate custom financial analysis of complex investment options. Work with corporate finance to gain approval for capital and O&M investments at the generating plants as necessary. * Apply a solid business acumen and industry perspective in the Energy Supply decision-making process. Interfaces with Operations, Commercial Operations, Accounting, Finance, Regulatory groups and others to quantify the risk profile and likelihood of successful outcomes and returns as it pertains to opportunities identified to increase the value of the generating fleet. * Design and perform ad-hoc financial analysis to evaluate operational and financial changes and strategic initiatives on Energy Supply's generation portfolio, providing financial and operational impacts to the unit, fleet and Company basis. * Support various Company production cost modeling tools by providing accurate and reliable generating asset data and analysis for utilization in various cost modeling tools to ensure Energy Supply assets are correctly evaluated and represented in Company-wide analysis. Drives change through contributing improvements to Company production cost modeling.
