How you can make a difference

We are looking for a passionate and talented Software Architect to join our team. Your focus will be on some of our core Platform Systems creating architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development team that will result in high quality solutions.

What you'll be doing

  • Create, own, and maintain architectural/design diagrams for apps/systems; including deployment diagrams, data models, activity diagrams, threat models, sequence diagrams, etc. in line with enterprise architecture direction

  • Support multiple scrum teams on architectural design & decisions.

  • Collaborate w/Product Owner on identifying, prioritizing technical enablers to support product features, and roadmap

  • Contribute to app/system/platform boundary definitions across full application

  • Create and maintain technical debt backlog of apps/systems

  • Work closely with the Solution Architects to implement enterprise architecture across owned systems and platforms

  • Provide guidance to scrum teams to ensure app/system design and architecture is maintained while contributing to the delivery of sprint commitments

  • Lead technical decision making on POC's and build/buy options within areas of apps/systems

  • Create, maintain a catalog of system level components, and contracts of apps/systems that can be used across the enterprise application

  • Attend and represent systems in architectural guild

What you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years hands-on experience design & development of enterprise level software applications

  • 3+ years hands-on experience designing and architecting software applications that are readable, maintainable, testable, scalable, and performable.

  • In depth knowledge of .NET Core, .NET Framework, Oracle, SQL Server, C# and modern front end technologies such as Angular, React etc.

  • Azure Cloud architecture experience is required

  • Ability to influence technical needs w/business and technical team members

  • Demonstrated skill in designing enterprise software solutions w/standard architectural principles/practices

  • Experience in architecting enterprise applications using Domain Driven Design and other design patterns

  • Practical knowledge building applications with Microservices

  • Solid understanding of data structures, interactions between software applications, and databases

  • Proven ability to mentor scrum team members

  • Proven ability to design for "ilities" across distributed systems (scalability, security, reusability, maintainability, extensibility, testability, reliability, etc...)

  • Proven knowledge of application/system architecture and full technology stack

  • Demonstrated ability to context switch while still delivering on commitments

  • Highly effective communication skills between functions across the business

  • Passion for understanding, following industry trends, and how those trends can influence

This will being with an assessment of the current on premise implementation that identified all of the items that will need to be updated for compatibility with the cloud. Once the required changes are defined, the architect will work with other team members and resources to ensure that all changes are completed and that non-production environments are built for testing. The architect will then support the customer through testing and address any issues found. Finally, they will develop the go live plan and orchestrate the production cutover activities. Impact you will make in the role (Responsibilities): Upgrading existing on-premise customers to SaaS is of major strategic importance to Accela. Ensuring a smooth transition to the cloud boosts customer satisfaction and drives growth in annual recurring revenue. Over the long term, it boosts customer retention and provides additional opportunities for sales and services. Cloud Architects are essential to this effort and primarily responsible for delivering a positive experience to customers. Expertise you will bring in (Skills and Qualifications): The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience working with the Accela Civic Platform. This should include experience working as an architect or technical lead on an enterprise class implementation. Specific skills include: * Experience managing customers and communicating project status * Knowledge of the Accela Civic Platform * Familiarity with interface design models and Accela APIs * Advanced knowledge of Accela EMSE scripting * Crystal and/or SSRS report development experience * Working knowledge of industry standard security standards and practices * Experience working remotely with geographically dispersed teams * Strong communication and presentation skills About us: Accela is the industry pioneer in government licensing, permitting, service request, and inspection solutions, with more than 20 years of experience.
