Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate, result-oriented engineer who enjoys driving software design and working in a development team implementing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software applications and services. A successful candidate will have a strong software development background, a broad understanding of architectural design patterns and is experienced in high-level design, technical standards, tools and platforms.

As a Software Architect in the Digital Patient Experience team, you will be at the early forefront building out our cloud based software systems which deliver our web and mobile application. Our architect will be hands-on working in conjunction with the Architect Team, influencing all areas of our software development and support including design, coding, testing, integrations and documentation. You will be instrumental in providing input into the correct use of technology and architectural approaches applied within our software solutions to meet the company and customer's long-term requirements. In this role you will:

  • Assist development teams in the appropriate selection and use of technical frameworks, platforms and design patterns for patient engagement applications, web and mobile

  • Provide guidance in best practice and tool use in the design and building of technical frameworks and the applications built on them

  • Provide input in the drive for constantly improving the scalability, extensibility, interoperability, reliability, availability and performance of software products

  • Implement technical solutions or components of complex solutions and ensure their integrity across software architecture and information architecture

  • Investigate and prototype innovative approaches to improve software / solution quality collecting and reporting supporting metrics

  • Contribute input and advise on technology and leverage industry best practice in the design and construction of software products

  • Review and assess new technologies and vendors for architecture appropriateness and extensibility

  • Document architecture flows and use across multiple applications

  • Learn constantly, dive into new area with new technologies, and work closely with architects, senior engineers and product managers in a fast paced and growing environment

Qualifications


Academic and Professional

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Mathematics, MIS or any related courses preferred

Experience:

  • Upwards of 6 years relevant experience in the IT industry preferred

  • 5-10 years experience as an Architect preferred

  • 6+ years relevant experience in software development and the IT industry

  • 3-5 years' experience as a senior team member, technical leader or in an architect capacity

  • Demonstrated understanding of architecture principles and methods, technology and standards

  • Strong knowledge in software architectures and software design patterns

  • Proficient knowledge of software engineering principles and ability to mentor other members of the engineering team in the practical application of these principles

  • Knowledge of federated identity management, IAM and SSO standards (SAML, LDAP, OAuth)

  • Highly motivated by creating business value through the effective use of technology

Travel Requirements:

  • May require local travel

  • May require other travel for business needs

Working Arrangements:

  • May require after hours on call support

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
