Compensation

The compensation target range for this role is:

$71,300 - $75,000

This is a full-time position for a candidate who is excited about developing the soft goods details of Purple's innovative, home comfort products. This soft goods developer will work alongside various members of the Purple Innovations team of industrial designers, sewing technicians, quality specialists, product and merchandising gurus, and others, all under the guidance of the soft goods design manager. Tasks will center around understanding design intent for different textile-based products, aiding in creating prototypes for demonstration and testing, and providing support in creating assets for tech packs. The ideal candidate will bring with them a motivation and passion for developing technically sound soft good products that offer the best user experience in the home comfort industry.

This position will work out of our Innovations center in Draper, UT.

  • Support soft goods team members in projects as directed by Soft Goods Design Manager

  • Develop original Purple products according to design intent as directed from product managers and other leadership

  • Sew items using non-traditional or unusual methods for innovative, out-of-the-box solutions when needed

  • Create technical drawings, renderings, and accurate tech pack assets to clearly communicate manufacturing specifications and product details

  • Provide support in sewing and assembling prototypes for early concepts, user testing, and samples for manufacturers

  • Ensure all product development processes are done in a timely manner to meet deadlines

  • Collaborate with product managers, supply chain, quality managers, and other teams to brainstorm ideas and solve product development challenges

  • Be willing to share recommendations for best product performance and manufacturability

  • Support development for secondary suppliers to achieve manufacturing approval on new products

  • Help maintain and organize textiles, trims, threads, product sample library, and other product development materials, both tangible and digital assets

Required Skills, Education, Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in product development-related field, such as Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Patternmaking, or similar.

  • A portfolio of work to demonstrate skills and abilities related to this position must be included with application.

  • Skilled with digital tools such as Adobe Illustrator, ProCreate, Gerber Accumark or Optitex, CAD, etc.

  • Excellent sewing skills and experience working with woven, non-woven, and knit fabrics

  • Ability to work on several projects under tight time constraints

  • Proficient with MS Office and similar programs

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is beneficial

  • Textile design experience also a plus
