General Summary of Position:

The Social Worker works in conjunction with a care team in providing supportive services to patients and their families. Assists Director to ensure all staff is providing quality care to patients and families from admission through discharge and aftercare. Follow and maintains department specific policies, procedures, and maintains assigned competencies.


  • Master's degree in social work
  • MSW licensure required.
  • BLS certification by end of introductory period

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

  • Assesses the patient's and family's psychosocial needs as related to the patient's terminal illness.

  • Consults and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the development and implementation of the comprehensive plan of care.

  • Documents problems, psychococial assessment, appropriate goals, care provided, interventions and patient, family, and caregiver response to each intervention.

  • Assesses and refers for ongoing bereavement services.

  • Supports the patient unique cultural and spiritual beliefs with referrals to clergy or chaplain as requested.Enhances the responsiveness of the environment by connecting the patient, family and caregivers with community resources as needed.

  • Provides interventions for specific symptom relief (fear, grief, depression, anger, etc.).

  • Screens for psychopathology and educates/intervenes accordingly.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position: Food Service Worker (3 hours/day) (half-time ten-month assignment) Location: Various Sites Salary: Range 1 ($7,605 - $11,501) Effective: April 2019 APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Qualified applicants, including current employees of St. Mary's County Public Schools, must complete a TalentEd online application. NATURE OF WORK: Performs a variety of tasks related to food production and foodservice in a fast-paced environment under the direction of the food service manager. The work requires a substantial amount of physical dexterity, can be repetitive, and requires prolonged standing. Food Service Workers are provided on the job training and are expected to become proficient in accomplishing required duties during a six month probationary period. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Prepare bulk quantities of food items in accordance with established recipes; * Clean and sanitize food service equipment and associated spaces; * Set up serving lines and provide high quality food service; * Operate a point of sale computer terminal; * Communicate with students and staff orally; and * Able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Cook - Prepare bulk quantities of food items; * Serve on the line - Set up and serve food items; * Cashier - Operate a computerized point of sale system; * Dishwasher - Operate a dishwasher; * Wash pots and pans in a three-compartmented sink; * Clean and sanitize food service equipment and associated spaces; * Maintain high quality food preparation and the highest caliber of customer service; * Work effectively with others as part of a team; * Coordinate with other school staff in support of the recycling program; * Participate in promotions of new food items and nutrition education activities; * Fill in for the manager – after proficiency is demonstrated; and * Performs other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a commercial food service environment is desirable but not required. Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions and be physically able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Half-time ten-month position. SALARYGRADERANGE: The salary for this position will be based on EASMC-ESP salary schedule for ten-month three-hour employees – Range 1.
