Social Worker Purpose Statement The job of Social Worker is to be the link between school and community in providing services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students' academic and social success. The role of the social worker includes: provision of evidence- based education, behavior, and mental health services, promotion of a school climate and culture conducive to student learning and teaching excellence, including the maximization of access to school- based and community- based resources.

The social worker will work with students, staff, and their families to address social emotional and behavioral concerns in an effort to help students remedy barriers to learning. This will be accomplished by using the School Social Work Practice Model including a layered approach of collaboration with administration, teachers, counselors, and school psychologist to promote and support student success. This job reports to the School Principal.

Essential Functions Facilitate responsive services through effective use of small group and individual support (i.e. grief and loss, family changes, self-management, peer mediation social skills, academic/organizational skills, emotion management/stress management). Facilitate and/or coordinate training for staff and families for the purpose of recognizing risk factors, strategies to support student socioemotional development, and relevant topics to increase student success and well-being. Promote the integration of social and emotional learning education throughout school. Facilitate transitions for students and families during the school year.

Provides information and acts as a liaison between the District, School, Community, and families including, but not limited to, counseling referrals, home visits and access to community resources. As needed, serves as a support member of school teams to support academic success and social emotional wellbeing including, but not limited to, Student Study Team, 504 Teams, IEP Teams, and the campus leadership team. Facilitate and/or coordinate prevention and intervention education programs on various topics.

Demonstrates knowledge of the roles/responsibilities of community agencies and develops partnerships to provide appropriate services. Facilitate transitions for students and families during the school year.

Pursues professional growth opportunities, i.e., participates in staff development opportunities, attends conferences, meetings, seminars, reads professional literature, and implements the learning from these experiences.

Maintain documentation of supports provided, training facilitated/coordinated, family services, and collection of data analysis for program implementation. Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required in: Coordinating deadlines, establishing priorities and monitoring plan progress.

Providing consultation and serving as a liaison and subject matter expert. Evaluating and assessing student development needs for academic and personal and social development success. Researching industry trends, solutions and best practices.

Researching issues and articulating recommendations. Exercising political acumen, tact and diplomacy. Gathering and analyzing data to monitor program goal achievement.

Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment). Providing customer service. Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

KNOWLEDGE of the following is required: Practices and methods of coaching and leading the work of others. Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing, monitoring work.

Principles and practices of program administration and management. Best practices, trends and emerging technologies. Principles and methods of qualitative and quantitative research.

Principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis. Principles and practices of group facilitation and building consensus. Applicable federal, state and local law, codes, regulations (based on assignment). Customer service principles.

Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment. Modern office technology. ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work. Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.

Education and Experience Master's degree in social work preferred, and two years of experience working with students with behavior-related issues, and comprehensive knowledge, understanding of and commitment to School Social Work Practice Model.

Experience in school setting, and current in non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is preferred. Equivalency/Certificates: Preferred valid Arizona Standard School Social Worker, Prekindergarten-12 Certificate.
