TITLE: Social Worker - 10 Month Postion

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid State Certification as a School Social Worker

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Personnel Services

JOB GOAL: To help students resolve issues such as: personal, emotional, educational, and social problems that would interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Counsels with parents toward improving home situations whereby more favorable conditions will be attained in regard to school work, behavior, attendance, and interest

• Serves as liaison between the school and outside agencies such as the Welfare Department, Division of Youth and Family Services and the Children's Court

• Helps families better understand the school and its program

• Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student's background

• Helps families make appropriate social agency contacts, when needed

• Serves as a liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary

• Assists students directly toward adjustment to school, when included in the I.E.P

• Participates with other members of the Child Study Team in case conferences and regular staff meetings

• Writes comprehensive social evaluations including all elements required by NJSA-18A:46 and JNAC-6:29

• Maintains adequate records of cases for use of school staff and authorized outside agencies

• Participates at staff meetings and serves on District Committees when requested

• Performs any other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the administration
