JOB SUMMARY: # A social worker who works proactively w/ the ED physicians and staff members, patients, and families to facilitate the transition of the patient from the ED to the appropriate level of care or discharge. The Social Worker plays an integral part in the utilization review process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master#s Degree in Social Work from an accredited program. Current license as social worker in Oklahoma preferred.

Hospital social work experience preferred. Strong skills in oral and written communication. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, physicians, patients, and families. Able to extensively utilize telephone for communication. Demonstrates adequate physical and emotional stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete necessary work schedule.

Able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time throughout the work schedule, with some lifting and bending. Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, for reading and preparing written documents. Able to hear, or adequate hearing with corrections, spoken communications from staff, physicians, patients, and families as well as pages. Demonstrates adequate manual dexterity to prepare written documents.
