Responsible for providing clinical social work services to residents of Laguna Woods Village and to serve as a community liaison between MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center and Laguna Woods Village. Professional services include, but are not limited to bio-psychosocial assessment, therapeutic support, crisis intervention, case consultation and patient education.

The clinical social worker is an integral part of the Laguna Woods Village and Saddleback Medical Center social work teams, providing mental health expertise, in addition to community outreach, networking and liaison with community programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 year's recent experience in a Healthcare setting

  • Effective problem-solving skills; good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to relate to a variety of health professionals in different settings

  • Degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council On Social Work Education

  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association

  • Valid and clean CA drivers license

Specific Job Responsibilities: It is the duty of all employees to understand and perform their job tasks to the highest level at all times. * Monitor facility and assist where needed for optimal patient flow. * Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment. Report defects to the Nursing Supervisor and document in infection control log per policy and procedure. * Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments, exam rooms, and all treatment areas (ie. surgery, lab, cast room, etc.) as needed or directed. * Respond to and participate in all clinical emergencies and maintain emergency equipment. * Maintain adequate and current inventories of medication and supplies. Properly dispose of or return expired supplies per policy. * Assist primary nurses/medical assistants in treatment and care of patients (i.e. telephone calls, rooming patients, reinforce provider's instructions, document and follow-up, etc.). * Complete nurse-visit charges and coding in an accurate manner at the end of the encounter. * Assist provider to complete E&M coding. * Demonstrate, enforce, and adhere to Infection Control Standards, Universal Precautions, and use of Personal Protective Equipment at all times. Maintain Infection Control log(s) per policies and procedures. Monitor and dispose of contaminated waste per policy. Access and interpret needed information from facility MSDS book or from MSDS Online. * Dispose of all sharps in the appropriate disposal container. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge and capability to perform all assigned nursing functions within scope of licensure. Maintain current licenses/certificates. * Follow current policies and procedures for labeling and collection of all specimens, using appropriate media. * Facilitate patient education per provider orders and telephone screening with documentation per scope of license. * Perform any additional/miscellaneous duties (not inclusive of job description) as requested by the management team within the scope of licensure. * Maintain complete understanding of the Scope of Practice for duties and limitations of their own licensure/ education level. * Perform any additional/miscellaneous duties (not inclusive of job description) as requested by the management team within the scope of knowledge/ability. Qualifications/Skills: Qualified candidate must excel in interpersonal communication and customer service and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidate must also excel in organization and attention to details and follow through. Additionally, they must have the ability to problem solve to logical conclusion and demonstrate initiative and responsibility. Must be able to effectively and clearly communicate (written and verbal.) Experience: Prior nursing experience in an ambulatory care environment preferred. Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Current California RN license. All Healthcare workers must maintain a Current CPR for Healthcare Provider card. AA, BA/BS degree a plus.
