The Social Work position is located at Meadowview Cottage and provide services to 12 individuals who reside in the cottage.  The individual's function in the profound/severe/moderate range of intellectual disabilities, have complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs cannot be supported in the community.

 This position will be administratively responsible to the Division Director with professional supervision provided through Murdoch's Social Work Department.  The position will render direct services through personal contact between the social worker and the individual/family.   Indirect Services will include the completion of psychosocial evaluations and documentation of client progress.

 The Social Worker will also assist with related duties concerning individuals and divisional needs as assigned by the Division Director.  The Social Worker is a vital member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.  Social Workers work directly with clients/guardian, professionals from other disciplines and paraprofessionals employed by Murdoch Center.  Position will maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and other service providers.

Murdoch does not provide clinical hours or supervision for clinical hours with the Social Work department.

Scheduled work hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Friday with some variations as required(e.g., QAR Rounds, FarmDay, Inclement Weather, etc.).

Required Minimum Training:

This position requires a four year or higher degree from an accredited school of social work.  Master's degree in Social Work (MSW); Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW) and one year of social work experience.  This is an ICF/IID requirement.

  • Working knowledge of social work principles, theory base methods and policy;

  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, trends and literature of social work with the particular reference to mental and emotional disturbances, and intellectual/developmental disabilities.

  • Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations and resources in the community, laws, regulations and policies which govern the program.

  • Strong writing skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and teleconference.

Required Minimum Training:

Additional Training/Experience:

Experience with individuals with severe/profound/moderate intellectual/developmental disabilities, strong writing skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Management Preferences:

Experience working in a residential facility.

Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution;
