TITLE: SOCIAL WORKER FOR CST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid N.J. Educational Services Certificate and School Social Worker Endorsement
Demonstrate knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education
Effective problem-solving, human relations and communications skills both orally and written
Successful experience working with families and community health and social services agencies
Hold and maintain a valid NJ Drivers License
Have documented working experience with children and adolescents
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, community social resources, and current social work issues
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current rules and regulations regarding CST's and special education assessment and program requirements
Demonstrate enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and community
Demonstrate ability to use electrical equipment, student data management, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications
Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Provide evidence of criminal history background check and clearance by NJ DOE
Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill job functions
Pass State required Mantoux intradermal tuberculin test
Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
To initiate, implement, develop, and evaluate Child Study Team services and programs as per N.J.A.C. Administrative Code Title 6A: Chapter 14.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the evaluation, classification and placement of all pupils with special needs.
Access a student in terms of a personal and family history, socio-economic, and cultural differences.
Evaluate the configuration of factors within the home, community, and school as related to a student's current social and academic adjustment.
Interpret the implications of significant social findings as a member of the child study team, and participates in educational planning for exceptional students.
Plan home visits or office interviews with family members to assess past and present history and development as well as family dynamics and interactions that are relevant to the child's adjustment.
Initiate, facilitate, and maintain liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet special needs. Refer parents and child to agencies when appropriate.
Maintain appropriate case records.
Assist in upholding and enforcing department rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
Maintain and improve professional competence and keep abreast of latest professional practices/methods.
Assist in coordinating, developing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of Individualized Education Plans.
Observe pupils in classroom and/or playground.
Interview pupils as indicated.
Attend and participate in meetings as deemed necessary and consistent with the needs of the MOESC.
Perform all duties required as a member of the child study team by administrative code, state and federal laws, and Board policy.
Provide counseling to students as needed, individually or in groups.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months, Part time-as needed
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the MOESC's Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
