Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary School Psychologist or School Social Worker who is trained in trauma-sensitive practices and has expertise in positive behavior management strategies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral development of students, particularly those affected by trauma. The psychologist or social worker will work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes the well-being of all students. This is a 0.6 FTE position for the Academic Year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide IEP and/or 504 Counseling Services
- Trauma-Sensitive Practices
- Behavior Management
- Crisis Intervention and Prevention
- Collaboration with Families and Staff
- Record Keeping and Documentation
Qualifications:
- Education: 6th year degree in School Psychology or Master's Degree in School Social Work
- Licensure: CT School Psychologist or School Social Worker Certification
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a school setting with a focus on trauma-sensitive practices and positive behavior supports.
- Specialized Training: Trauma-sensitive training (e.g., Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) training, etc.) and experience in behavior management strategies (e.g., Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, Restorative Practices), Psychological and Physical Management Training (PMT)

- Experience in a school setting working with elementary-aged children.
- Experience with crisis intervention and support services.
Compensation: per EWEA contract
