This vacancy is located within the Social Services Department of Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA (East Feliciana Parish). ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.

The position may be filled as either a Probational or Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.

SPECIAL ENTRANCE RATE (SER) OF PAY:

Social Worker 5B - $1705.41/biweekly

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work followed by four years of professional level social services experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Positions require possession of Licensure as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners..

NOTE:

The master's degree in social work must be from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, 1701 Duke Street, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Provides professional clinical supervision through review of cases to assist and guide subordinate social service staff in the use of social work methodologies and in developing skills in work with families, client groups, offenders, and especially with atypical and complex patients.

Determines work assignments, coordinates work flow and duty assignments, and evaluates work performance of subordinate social service staff.

Plans, organizes and implements various social work services. Coordinates the activities of the program with other units and agencies.

Develops goals, program plans, policies/procedures, determines staffing and resource needs for a social work unit.

Provides or arranges for training and development activities for subordinates.

May provide LCSW supervision to candidates for professional social work certification.

Provides expert testimony and advocacy representation on behalf of clients in court cases.
