DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker 2 for the Office of Victim Advocate, you will provide trauma healing and resiliency building services to survivors of crime and office staff managing trauma and vicarious trauma in the workplace. In this position, you will also coordinate social work needs for staff members, facilitate virtual support groups for survivors of crime, and aid staff with training on trauma, trauma healing, resiliency and self-care. It is essential that you remain up to date on best practices in the field of trauma and crisis response.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week upon successful completion of a probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

• Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors. Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:

• Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or

• Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or

• Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or

• A master's degree in social work or social welfare.

• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:

• All employees in the Department of Corrections must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
