The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.
What We Do:
OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

Salary Information:
SALARY: $26.50 - $33.40 Hourly (based on education/experience) plus 15%/hour supplement
Work Hours : Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. | Some Saturdays required - approx. once every six weeks

Performs as lead worker in collaboration with social worker 1 in the review and development of patient care; coordinates assessment, evaluation & social service needs as identified by patient (s) on the individualized service plan (ISP) or treatment plan of patients throughout the continuum of care cycle; provides interventions with acute, complex and varied discharge needs of patients; manages cases containing numerous problems and interventions & provides crisis situational counseling and interventions with various modalities including CBT. Referral and linkages with the public and private benefit systems.
Participates in process of establishing, implementing & directing social service programs & treatment system objectives; develops & designs treatment intervention techniques & procedures; evaluates & modifies treatment systems to be responsive patient's progress & ability to change behavior; monitors performance of lower-level social workers in the implementation of prescribed treatment plans.
Maintains necessary documentation to satisfy requirements of federal, state & local agencies & accrediting bodies; completes & maintains records (e.g., bio psychosocial assessments, admission/discharge & aftercare summaries, progress notes, referrals, & discharge/transitional documents).
Establishes & maintains working relationships with other facilities, agencies & support services (e.g., Social Security Administration, Medicaid, Medicare, Veteran Administration, public welfare) in order to coordinate referrals & conduct follow-up.
Plans & implements continuity of care from hospital to community by functioning as linkage for treatment team with case management system through ongoing regular collaboration (e.g, meetings, telephone conversations, correspondence).
Attends & participates in training sessions, department procedure & policy review meetings. Provide direction to Social Work students/interns.

Requires current license as independent social worker (i.e., LISW) as issued by State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage & Family Therapist Board in accordance with ORC 4757.27. Pursuant to ORC 4757.41 (A)(5) any person engaging in social work or professional counseling as a civil service employee as defined in section 124.01 of the Revised Code who has at least two years of service as of July 10, 2014 is exempt from current licensure as independent social worker (i.e. LISW) requirement.
