Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours/week), day shift, SOCIAL WORKER SUPERVISOR to support the Inpatient Medical Surgical Units.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of and provision of direct social work services to patients of all ages and their families on the inpatient medical surgical ICU, acute care and Rehab floors. Implement the full range of social work clinical procedures for patients ranging from infancy through adulthood
Documentation and verbal communication of social work activities provided to patients and their families or support system, requiring knowledge of legal intervention options and processes, and of community resources that are relevant to the population of assigned service(s)
As a trainer and supervisor, teach and model being an essential member of an interdisciplinary team, attend team rounds or meetings, respond to requests for social work intervention, demonstrate professional competence, maintain a positive working relationship, consult on legal, systems and resource issues, and negotiate clinical tasks
Observe Social Work Department policies/procedures, and legal mandates in carrying out social work role
Complete all supporting social work charting adhering to confidentiality and Harborview Documentation Guidelines
Provide leadership to the Social work and assigned service teams, contribute to effective team functioning and provide support to clinic staff as needed
Assist in the recruitment and selection of new staff and coordinate the training and mentoring of new staff
Develop schedules for individual and/or group supervision, which meet the professional needs of the staff
Carry out performance evaluations and initiate appropriate performance improvement counseling in accordance with the union contract as delegated by the manager
Share on call responsibilities with other supervisory and management staff to provide consultation and supervision to in-house staff and implement sick call procedures to provide 7 day per week social work coverage on inpatient units
Perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND four years of full-time professional social work experience OR equivalent education/experience. Two years of this experience must have been in a health care setting.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT:
Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington.
